Pre-Revolutionary War-era farmhouse, fully restored with a cozy blend of old and new, nestled within the rolling hills of idyllic Battenkill Valley outside of Cambridge, NY -- one of the friendliest places in the country. Oozing with bucolic charm, it awaits your stay!

Le logement

Old meets new, and rustic charm meets custom comfort, in this pre-Revolutionary period saltbox farmhouse. Situated in the rolling hills of the Cambridge Valley – a gorgeous 40-min drive from Saratoga Springs – this is the perfect location for those who want to be close to the racetrack but also "away from it all," quietly tucked away from the hustle-and-bustle around race time. History buffs will be taken by the house and its grounds (Revolutionary war gravestones located in the backyard!). Culture seekers will be within close shooting range reach of the many other draws of this culturally and naturally rich area – from nearby Manchester and Dorset VT (35 mins) to Williamstown MA and Mass MoCA (45 mins). Nature abounds as well, with breathtaking hiking/biking trails and Class A fishing in every direction.

Built by Irish immigrant Thomas Green in the 1760s, the "Green House" itself is the oldest home in the local area, and has been awarded a Historic Preservation award. The current owners have been lovingly restoring it to preserve its legacy while outfitting it with all the amenities to make it a fully modern home-away-from-home where you can relax in comfort. The recently updated kitchen and downstairs bath highlight all the original details while adding all the creature comforts of a modern getaway -- largely using materials sourced locally, from Granville NY slate to NH tile and VT marble as well as artifacts excavated right on the property! Outside, enjoy a bonfire in the 1700s cauldron retrofitted as a fire pit, or drinks and dinner on the deck while watching the sun setting over the hills and original smokehouse. Ancient fruit trees, including native wild grape vines and apple trees, dot the property, as do wild rose, lilac, lilies and crocuses. Two nicely appointed bedrooms accommodate 4, and a downstairs office can fit an air mattress to sleep an additional 2.

Available by the week or month during race season. Although there is no television, high-speed DSL connection is available. Dogs allowed with permission of owner.

Rob's home is peaceful and inviting. My wife and dog love Everthing about the house and property. Location is private but easily accessible. If you want to relax and cook or bake for a king. In a beautiful setting stay at Rob's home. The only thing we hated was we had to leave. Oh and when you are crying that you have to leave don't forget to close the CHIMNEY FLUE! Like I did sorry again Rob.

Rob was an ideal host - clear instructions, great recommendations for the area, and very quick replies to any communication. The house itself was even better than expected, and a perfect place to spend a quiet week in the country. We did a lot of cooking in the modern and spacious kitchen, sourcing nearly everything from amazing local purveyors. We hope to return someday!

Rob was wonderfully responsive to our needs. We were using the house to provide extra space for a family wedding and wanted something special. In fact the house was even more beautiful than the photographs and descriptions available online, an unusual mix of heritage restoration with all the modern conveniences you could hope for. We entertained a large family group on one of our nights there and the catering spec kitchen contained all the gear required to creat and outstanding meal based on the high quality ingredients we had sourced from local artisan producers. The house felt gloriously secluded despite being within a short distance of neighbours, providing excellent views of rolling landscape and sky, with the hammock and binoculars at the ready... Just Perfect!

My partner and I spent a relaxing week reading, cooking, exploring the area. Rob is an incredibly thoughtful and considerate host - he arranged to leave us a great bottle of wine as a welcome gift, along with clear instructions for the house and tons of recommendations and info about the area. The house is as described, charming and comfortable with a good and well equipped kitchen. It's a beautiful part of the world and well worth a visit!

We (2 parents, a 6-year old, a 13-year old and our dog) had a great time at Rob's house. It is comfortable, clean and beautiful. It is both elegant and unfussy. The property is dreamy, especially with a fire in the fire pit as the sun sets. My children want to move in!

Rob had wonderful wine (Evodia) waiting for me after a long drive and a ton of information pamphlets to read about things to do in the area. Even a map of Washington county. Needless to say, I felt grateful and reassured that I was in a location that would keep me as busy being a tourist as I wanted to be. There was also a 4 page typed instruction pack of what to do and what to not do, (ie eat dinner in town - not) where to get groceries, donuts, farmers markets etc. This was all very helpful and appreciated. This farmhouse is quite high-end in its amenities. If you are used to that you might take it all for granted - until you get to a place that is not. Then it is all the more appreciated. I loved my 3 weeks there. Very much. Down pillows and duvets, gas stove, a shower to adore, beautiful quality furnishings, very very nice appliances. No money was spared in making this farmhouse a home away from home.

We stayed at the farmhouse in late August. The house and surrounding areas met and exceeded our expectations. The renovation of the farmhouse was very well done. Lots of great modern touches while preserving the character of the house, and especially a great kitchen and porch to enjoy the evenings. The location is great for those that are looking for a nice escape from the city. Nice towns to visit, local farmer markets, and outdoor activities. The owners were extremely helpful in making our stay that much more enjoyable and made us feel like true guests in their home.

Well-travelled professional, very tidy and extremely considerate and respectful of others' property. I will treat your home as I do my own when I rent from you, and seek the same in renters of my property. Looking forward to hearing from you!
