I offer alternative accommodations for many who enjoy a quick trip through Anacortes: a 2nd story guest room with queen bed and adjacent guest bath, close to down town and the state ferry terminal. Easy to find, parking in front WiFi/cable TV.

Cozy, eclectic upstairs bedroom with queen-size bed with a private adjacent bath upstairs. Access to well equipped kitchen and outdoor grill. Easy block off the Anacortes ferry route, plenty of parking, bike and kayak storage. Four blocks to downtown Anacortes and 2.5 miles to the ferry terminal. Excellent choice for an early morning ferry reservation, kayakers or cyclists. Quiet city park across the street, hiking and mountain biking trails through the 200 acres Anacortes Forest Lands are within blocks. Visit on the quiet front porch or relax in the private backyard with a sunny deck. Complimentary coffee and tea are available in room or kitchen. I can refer you to local restaurants, shops, trails, paths, beaches and all Anacortes activities/events. Local county transit stop is one block away with connections downtown by Safeway Grocery Store and at the San Juan Ferry Terminal. The SeaTac Airporter has scheduled hourly stops both in the downtown area and at the San Juan Ferry terminal. If I'm around or on my way to or from work in Mount Vernon, I'm happy to give you a lift to the Amtrack and Transit (bus) Center in Mount Vernon.
WiFi and cable available at the house.

Through the front door of a spacious covered front porch with on-street parking. Private upstairs bedroom with a queen bed, small table and chair, TV and Kuerig along with hanging space in the closet. Private bath with a bathtub/shower, both rooms adjacent to each other in the upstairs hall. Your basic 1990's kitchen with Jenn-air gas cook range and electric convection oven and overhead microwave. Large gas grill on the back porch deck, steps from the kitchen. There's television available through Direct TV and WiFi with TV's located in the bedrrom, small front room or open family room/kitchen. DVD/VCR available with another eclectic selection of tapes and DVD's including children's classics. Gas fireplace in the family room for chilly nights, but you might have to share it with me!
There is a fully fenced back yard for kids and pets to enjoy or secure your bikes or kayaks in. South exposure front porch with bistro table along with settee and rocking chair. Backyard has an attached deck with small table and bench, along with a separate stone patio with full size dining table and chairs with a sunbrella. There is a fire pit in the back yard for warmer nights, star gazing and listening to the frogs.
The house faces a baseball field facility which may or may not be busy, along with a new playground at the far end of the street. A paved walking path encircles the facility, about a one mile stroll with pond, wetlands, beavers and songbirds in the back of the area. For the adventuresome, there are walking/running paths through the woods behind the wetlands, maintained by the school district. Great for a morning or evening walk. The whole area is very safe and crime-free.

While I do not provide a full "B and B" experience with a hot breakfast, I can set out a Continental breakfast of juice and pastries if you want. There is always a selection of instant or fresh ground coffee, including decaf, along with herbal teas. There is complimentry coffe and tea in the guest room.
I list my maximum stay for 4 nights as I still work full time, leaving me little time to interact with my guests although I love to chat if I'm present. If you need extra nights' accommodations, feel free to ask.

It's quiet, it's safe and it has all the amenities I need close by. There are beaches to stroll, hikes to explore and pubs to enjoy with live music most nights. Terrific small owned-by-the- chef restaurants that specialize in healthy local foods. Anacortes has four main city parks/playgrounds along with the 200 acre of beach/woodland/campground of Washington Park with camping and boat launch, along with a separate 200 or so acres of hike-able, bike-able Anacortes Forestlands with a regionally famous rock climbing mountain face, all encompassing some 5 pristine lakes. Multiple marinas, boat launches, and protected waters for day sailing, kayaking or paddle boarding.
There is a highly rated 75 bed hospital and ER with helipad in case you require emergency health care with excellent physicians, along with state of the art lab and radiology departments that are one-stop shopping in a very smoothly run operation. Many terrific specialists move here on the last step of their medical career!
My central location makes transportation, running to the store, or getting a quick or intense work-out a breeze. We have a world-class wine store and upper-end groceries with full-selection liquor departments.
Saturdays start our in Anacortes with a public market at the old railroad depot with organic produce vendors, bakers, cheese/meat fish suppliers, along with flowers, vegetable starts, foodcarts and craftspeople. During the summer months the Farmer's Market is also opened Wednesday evenings with the addition of a beer garden, a new local hangout for the baby boomers after

The local Skagit "SKAT" (don't ask who came up with that one..) transit runs hourly around Anacortes with transfers to the larger Skagit transit system, usually a $1 fee. SKAT also ties in to the free Island Transit (Whidbey and Camano Island) system on Hiway 20 at March's Point out by the refineries. All systems meet at the regional Transit Center at downtown Mt Vernon on Interstate 5/Kincaid St exit--county transit system buses, greyhounds, and trains. For current ferry schedules, be sure to go online at Washington State DOT, selecting ferry system as the schedules and prices change quarterly. Locally, we have several 24 hour taxi services due to temporary refinery workers. Mert's Taxi is available here locally on Fidalgo Island. From my location, it's a fairly easy walk into the downtown area for restaurants, stores or a walk around the marina.

High speed WiFi throughout house an garden; tv in guestroom with HBO, Showtime, Starz, etc. No air conditioning in house, but plenty of breezes from the sea every afternoon.

The small seaside village of Anacortes surrounded by water, mountains and forest lands but within 90 minutes of world-class cities, with access to the nature, civilization, and Anacortes' friendly, laid-back residents. · Membre depuis mars 2012

After a trip to southern Spain and several stays in private homes, I want to offer the same convenience and local experience at a reasonable price. Anacortes is a wonderful place to stay and play or to stop for a night while in transit to and from the San Juan Islands and Victoria. I'm a 25 year resident (although not yet earning my wings as a 'local'--that takes generations, LOL!) and can probably answer or find out most of what you need to know about Anacortes, Skagit County and western Washington. I still work full-time during the week, so please be flexible with my availability during the week. Carpe Diem!
