Description

Classic Australian suburban home with 4 bedrooms, 2 living areas, 2 bathrooms, leafy backyard with Bar/BBQ area, RC air cond. 1.8 km to beach, 5 min walk to major shopping centre, Olympic pool, train and buses. 20 min by car or train to CBD

The house consists of two areas, the main house and the attached "West Wing" which can be rented separately (see separate AIRBnB listings) or as a whole.

Individual rooms with queen or double beds and shared facilities may also be rented if the whole house isn't booked. See the separate AirBnB listings.

The main house has a full size kitchen with gas stove, full size fridge, bathroom with double vanities, large mirrors, heat lamps and separate WC and shower room. A living room with large sofa, 42" TV with DVD player, Bluetooth soundbar and large dining table opens off the kitchen. There's a slightly out of tune piano for those who wish to relive 1955, the year my late parents came to live here.

The West Wing has one bedroom with queen bed, a separate living room with TV and sofa bed (suitable for children or up to two people who don't mind sleeping on a sofa bed), and a bathroom with full size bath and separate WC. The West Wing shares the main kitchen and laundry with guests staying in the main area of the house.

The leafy backyard features the Dionysus Bar under the shade of a large old tree with gazebo for year round shelter, a gas BBQ, rainwater tanks and a 1970's Yamaha Electone organ is you're so inclined.

There is off street parking in the driveway (which doubles as an excellent cricket pitch) and plenty of on street parking.

If you choose to rent the whole house, you have access to the entire property except the garage (which is full of my worthless junk which I'll get rid of one day.)

If you just require the main house (with the 3 bedrooms) without the West Wing, there may be guests in the West Wing who will share the kitchen and laundry. And the Dionysus Bar, a great place to meet new people.

Individual bedrooms may be available for rent for up to two guests per room if the whole house is not rented (see separate AirBnB listings for each room). Kitchen, bathroom, laundry and living areas in the main house will be shared in this case.

I'm happy to help with any questions you may have about pretty much anything. I lived in the local area for a large chunk of my life, and Adelaide is my turf. I now live in another beachside suburb of Adelaide but I'm rarely far away and am happy to help where I can. I'm always a phone call away.

Warradale was built on vineyard land in the early 50's, with a lot of the homes built for war veterans. My parents moved to this house in 1955 and lived here for the rest of their lives. Many of the old homes are now long gone, and the Great Aussie Backyard is a dying breed.

I'm delighted to be able you an opportunity to an experience that's becoming harder to find by the day.

We're well served for public transport around here...

There is a train station an easy seven minute walk away which will have you in the CBD of Adelaide in 22 minutes or near Brighton beach in 5 minutes. There is an enormous Westfield shopping center a 7 minute walk away which has buses to everywhere, including Glenelg Beach and Adelaide Airport (or the airport is about $35 in a cab). From Glenelg you can catch the historic Bay Tram to the CBD.

The McLaren Vale wine district is an easy 25 minute freeway drive to the south, and the Barossa Valley is an hour north. Or there's a huge (and cheap) Dan Murphy's liquor store 5 minutes walk away. Walk out the driveway, look left and that's it at the end of the road, in front of the Westfield.

The house is smoke free but you're welcome to engage in the toxins of your choice outside in the Dionysus Bar and gardens. Please dispose of your butts thoughtfully.

You're very likely going to be in holiday mode, so I don't expect you to tiptoe around a pristine show home, which the Great Aussie Backyard is not. I have nice neighbours who keep to themselves so please respect them by keeping it down when its getting late.

Easy going bloke with two adult children and a wide range of interests; part IT geek, part rock god, always on the lookout for something new. Travelled fairly widely through Europe, Asia, the US and NZ, and the best is yet to come. Discovered AirBnB in Europe in 2014 and used it for almost all my holiday accommodation with great results.
