Peaceful room with accompanying bathroom on its own mezzanine level; neighborhood so quiet you can sleep with the windows open if you want, snuggled into your cotton or cotton flannel sheets (you choose). Our book-lined living room can be all yours as well.
The first thing we want you to read is sort of NOT about the space; it is that we welcome all to our home and we are horrified at the increase in bigotry in our country. You are safe with us. Ok, the actual space stuff: Your bedroom (with a queen-sized bed) and bathroom are pretty standard sizes, neither huge nor too small, but the spacious living room (close-off-able from the rest of the house) can be all yours during your stay. During the drier months, the garden in back is a secluded and peaceful retreat, with a waterfall feature and a place to dine alfresco or just lounge. Your bathroom has heated floors, and we have big fluffy terry robes for you to use, since we think that's a nice thing to have while traveling, but such a pain in the neck to pack. We keep the cats out of the bedroom in case of guests with allergies, but in our opinion, ambient cat hair is a fact of life in any house with cats so please do take that into consideration if you are allergic.
It's worth mentioning here, the first place you're reading about us, that our 8:00 am - 7:00 pm checkin window is important to us; it's not inflexible, and we can accommodate other arrival times (and departure times later than 12:00). But if you have to arrive in the middle of the night, please let us know when you first contact us. Thanks!

We'll provide coffee and tea in the morning, and we have farmers market eggs, tortillas, english muffins, etc around for you too. Please let us know if you have special dietary requirements, and we'll do our best to provide them. And you are welcome to put a thing or two into our frig, but no major meal-cooking please. The living room is all yours during your stay, and most of the fiction section lives in there too. You're welcome to use our washer and dryer. We don't have a TV set available for guest use, so you need to be ok with what you can stream via our wifi or however else you access movies or TV. Total of 21 stairs counting outside and the ones up to your room. There is always plenty of room on our street for parking.

Laura's gregarious but works all day; Preston's trying to be less gregarious because he's writing a book. We understand that some people would rather just use their Airbnb as a pied-a-terre and operate on their own, and if that's you, that's fine! One cat would probably hide under our bed the whole of your visit; the other would try to make friends with you. It's EXTREMELY important to us that guests understand the importance of keeping cats inside, to us, and are careful not to leave doors open or otherwise risk letting the cats out. Cars and coyotes mean short life spans for outside cats in our neighborhood.
We have loved being Airbnb guests for a few years now and are really enjoying being hosts, too. We don't have any TV sets available for guest use, though friends watch stuff on their laptops/tablets and don't seem to mind; there are 14 stairs leading to the front door from the street, and 7 stairs leading up to the level with your room and bathroom. We are very happy to host adults and teens, but this is not a great set-up, from our point of view, for small children (the cats hide from little ones, and the elderly one needs meds and regular food).
Our most important rule is the one about being careful to not let our cats outside; no smoking, vaping, chewing tobacco, etc., inside or out. Grownups and children old enough to understand about letting animals come to you, versus pursuing them with a happy squeal, please.
