Le logement

Our boutique Devon cottage is a fairytale English country cottage that's made for romantic escapes.

This cosy two-bedroom cottage, in the ancient thatched village of North Bovey, in Dartmoor National Park, has a romantic log fire, huge copper bath for two, beautiful views from the window seats, boutique decor and a pretty walled garden.

Every luxury is provided, including freshly-cut flowers, 600 thread-count Egyptian cotton bed linen, fluffy towels, scented candles, firewood, glossy magazines, a movie library and a state-of-the-art Sonos music system with free use of Spotify. For lovebirds, we offer honeymoon packages and other romantic goodies.

Cottage guests have complimentary membership of nearby five-star Bovey Castle, with free and unlimited use of its spa, Jacuzzi, sauna, pool, golf, gym and tennis facilities, and a 10% discount on anything purchased (including spa treatments).

North Bovey is an idyllic Devon village, surrounded by wooded glades, sheep-filled pastures and open moorland. Our village has a traditional pub, the Ring of Bells, which serves delicious local produce, an ancient parish church, oak-shaded village green and beautiful riverside walks. It's peaceful and secluded: the only sounds are distant church bells, birdsong and the occasional clip-clopping of horses' hooves.

Dartmoor is one of the UK's largest remaining wildernesses and there are dozens of beautiful walks on the cottage's doorstep. For beach lovers, the sandy coves of South Devon aren't far. For foodies, Gidleigh Park, which has two Michelin stars, is close by.

One of the best and well-run airbnbs I've been to. Immaculate and very well organised. Free access to Bovey Castle is a massive bonus

My partner and I had a wonderful time at this charming cottage. The village of North Bovey is pretty and peaceful, and the cottage is so well provisioned that the remote location had no drawbacks. The place is beautifully decorated and maintained, with a few unique features which add to the sense of luxury. I would very much recommend this for anyone looking for a hassle-free country retreat.

Suzy’s cottage is idyllic. It’s gorgeously decorated with lots of little surprises and luxurious details. Everything was perfect from the minute we arrived. There was a bottle of wine and delicious olives, fresh bread and a Devon cream tea waiting for us. And Suzy has thought of every detail, providing marshmallows for toasting on the fire, the plumpest pillows, fresh coffee, fluffy dressing gowns and slippers, and peanuts for feeding the birds. The use of the pool and spa at Bovey Castle is a huge bonus - we had a lovely massage there and relaxed in the sauna. We loved the walk to get there along the river through the bluebell woods. We did lots of walks in the countryside around the cottage, ate at the Michelin-starred Gidleigh Park, went antiques shopping in Ashburton and spent a day on the beach. The whole area is breathtakingly beautiful. The local pub also has a friendly atmosphere and the food there is very good. Suzy was excellent with communication from start to finish - friendly, quick to reply (despite us booking at the last minute) and full of suggestions for things to do in the area. She even contacted us at the end of our stay to ask if there was anything that could have been improved upon. There wasn't. We have some very special memories from our trip and are already planning our return. It's not a budget break, but worth every penny if you're looking to indulge.
