Alwyngton Manor, circa 1855…
This historic site once owned by John Quincy Marr, the first Confederate Soldier killed in the Civil War, has beautifully appointed bed and breakfast rooms, all with private baths, available for overnight guests. John Quincy Marr, who built the manor in 1855 for his mother, sisters and himself. Unfortunately, Mr. Marr would not enjoy his home for long. In 1861 at the Fairfax Courthouse, he became the first confederate officer to be killed in the Civil War.
