Description

Set in the heart of a typically English village there are two pubs providing gastro or family friendly meals, St Andrew's Church, Caunton Tennis Club and Caunton Cricket Club are within a minute's walk.

There is a dining room with sitting area around a fire which is lit in colder weather. A selection of magazines and decks of cards will keep you occupied if you find yourself at a loose end.

Check-in is between 4pm and 6pm. If you want to arrive at a different time, just let us know and we will be there to greet you, show you where everything is and give you the key to your room... You'll get a key to the house as well so that you can come and go as you please.

During your stay if we aren't around there is a 'necessities' box in your room with spare light bulbs and a few essentials you may have forgotten.

A quiet and peaceful village, with lots of community activities throughout the year, including the world renowned annual 'Caunton Duck Race.

Floral Media offers numerous horticultural workshops in the village and the minster town of Southwell is only 5 miles away, with Southwell Minster, the National Trust Workhouse, Southwell Racecourse and lots of independent shops and eateries.

Newark is only a few minutes drive away, with regular antique fairs at the showground, and only a little further afield is Lincoln with its magnificent Cathedral quarter.

With the A1 and A46 within 3 miles, road links are easily accessible. Off-road parking is available for guests driving to Manor Cottage.

For non-drivers there is a regular bus route through the village, linking to Newark and Ollerton.

The main East Coast rail route goes through Newark with regular trains to London and Edinburgh, and trains into Nottinghham and Lincoln at frequent intervals.

We do have a small but usually well behaved Border Terrier. We keep her away from the public areas, but she might occasionally make a bid for freedom.
