Le logement

This is a private room in my home, with shared bathroom and living area. The apartment is located on the third floor of a building located just down the street (about 3 minutes walking) from the historic Alhóndiga de Granaditas, site of the first victory toward Mexican independence, and another 10-15 minutes further to the main square (Jardín Union and La Basilica). Like most buildings in Guanajuato, this one does not have an elevator, but it is located at street level. That means no taxis, buses, or uphill climbs necessary to get home (you'll soon find out what I'm talking about, if you are not already familiar with the callejones - alleyways - of Guanajuato).

The room is cozy, with plenty of light, ample closet space, and a brand new double-sized mattress. It is in a fairly quiet corner of the apartment, given that Guanajuato is a town of many different sounds. The temperature is generally stable and comfortable. There are extra blankets available in case of cold weather. There is a shared bathroom, with a sink located in a common area just outside the bathroom (see photos and captions). Towels and soap are provided.

There is a small living and dining area. The kitchen is good for basics, although with the delicious and affordable food Guanajuato has to offer you probably won't use it much. These are simple accommodations that encourage you to get out on the town, but comfortable enough for recuperation time. Please see photos and captions.

I love meeting new people and telling them about my town.

This is a somewhat bustling neighborhood consisting mostly of local businesses and residents. I love the central location. Late night cravings are not a problem with the multiple street vendors (best quesadillas in town!) and shops open late.

Guanajuato is a walking town, and with the downtown location of the apartment you can get around easily on foot. However, there is a bus stop down the street, and taxi drivers will easily find the location from the airport, bus station, or within town.

The apartment and the building are entirely owned and operated by local Guanajuatenses spanning three generations. By staying here you are supporting the local people and economy, which rely primarily on tourism. We thank you for that!

There are no words to describe how happy I was staying at Elias' place. I felt very safe, and it was very quiet. Elias made me feel comfortable and he always had a smile. This was my first AirBnb experience and I am very happy. Also, Elias' sister Selene was super nice and very helpful. Elias, sorry I didn't have time to hang the sheets and blanket.

Great place. Elías met me when I showed up, very nice . I stayed for 7 days and had no problems. Pros Close to a grocery store. Close to major bus stops. Pretty close to an olympic size swimming pool available to visitors . ( requires payment and bus trip) Fast WiFi. Able to stream movies. Secure. Police station is located across the street. Even w/o police it would be secure. The room had a small 5" fan, which provided adequate air circulation. I stayed in late June when the rains started and its cool. The room might be a little warm in May, not sure. Good price. Nice marble floors. Hot water. Pretty quiet I have to assume that 90% of the buildings here are at least two hundred years old, that's just a wild guess. So you have to take that into account when staying here. I do wish the room had a better view, but I knew this when i began my stay. I was taking a Spanish course and wanted a balcony or terrace where I could sit outside and study. Not possible. My room had 2 small windows with a single light bulb. There was a reading lamp next to the bed. I used my Tablet to read, so this wasn't a concern. The kitchen and living room are a little dark again due to the design of the building. The bathroom sink is not located in the bathroom. It's just outside the bathroom. No problem, just different. This is a Good place for a traveller on a budget. On my next trip back I'll stay here. Thanks Elías.

Buena experiencia, anfitrión muy amable el lugar limpísimo, lindo, cómodo, vaya! Con todo lo necesario para pasarlo como estar en casa. Siempre pendiente de lo que necesitamos! Volvería a alquilarlo sin duda. Nos recibió con guías y consejos para la ciudad y nos apoyó con dudas respecto al turismo.

We were born and raised in Guanajuato and have lived here all our life. We have always loved meeting people from the many different countries who come to visit our little hometown. We have been very good friends from a long time ago.

Antonio is a full time dance teacher, performer, choreographer and director of his own dance studio. He's primarily a Salsa and Bachata dancer, though He teach many different Latin dances. He also sing and play the guitar, but just for fun. He love food and motorcycles. He's professional, though anything but serious.

Elías works for the Guanajuato Symphony Orchestra as the Public Relations Manager. He dances too, he does Belly Dance, do teach sometimes, Antonio's girlfriend is his instructor. He is a painter too! Loves to travel and make new friends. He does not sing (well sometimes, but is not very fun to listen to...), he also loves food. A bit more shy, but he loves to hang out with anyone new.
