My stay at Neil's place was originally for a month. I stayed for under a week and wish I never checked in at all. My experience at this place can best be summed up as a waste of time. The provided Internet experienced long periods of unusability. The Aircon froze over due to not being cleaned on my first evening. I had to remove the filter and clean it myself. The door handle on the balcony door was unusable, allowing me not to be able to lock the door and eliminate noise pollution and aircon seepage. The water pressure seems quite low, the hot water heater in the shower does not work effectively on the highest setting, the shower fixtures are broken for the showerhead, the washing machine while completes a cycle is loud and seems to be on it's last leg. Undocumented in the listing is burn damage to the couch from a previous guest, making the headline photo inaccurate. Neil is not in the country and the property is managed by one of his associates. While communication between her and I was constant, the place is not ready for habitation for short term guests. As a host, I would not suggest Neil or his place. I contacted airbnb, and they agreed that his place was not up to par and voided my remaining days. Neil has since then been sending messages suggesting that I'm lying, that I purposefully sabotaged his amenities and demands payment for the month, electricity for the month, internet for the month and an additional fee for voiding my reservation as cash, avoiding the airbnb payment system. As a host myself, I understand the challenges being an absentee host can bring. I pride myself on being an acceptable guest that does not expect everything to be picture perfect. I use Airbnb to live like a local and take advantage of local neighborhoods that would not be available if I was in a hotel. This place costs more than local hotels. This place has been neglected far too long and requires a serious overhaul to even meet a 2 star hotel standard. Everything about the listing is false and nothing is close to 'five star amenities" as promised in the listing. My time table for the week I stayed at Neil's was challenging and I was unable to be without accommodations/book at a hotel/move again otherwise I would've left the first evening. The only pro I had during my stay was the close vicinity to Star City mall. I was able to walk there to use the FX shuttles to visit a few local provinces. Literally my only pro of this place was the ability to easily leave it for extended periods of time.

We strongly advise anyone considering hosting Esteban to be very cautious and to be aware of the appalling behavior he demonstrated when staying at our apartment. Esteban booked a one month stay at our Lights apartment. Esteban’s initial communications were polite and he came across as interested and enthusiastic. When Esteban arrived he notified us that the air conditioning needed cleaning, that he couldn’t open the balcony door properly and that the internet speed was slow. We immediately sought to remedy the concerns Esteban raised, arranging for maintenance staff to visit to clean the A/C, to inspect and repair the door to the balcony and for the internet service provider to visit to re-set the internet, etc. Numerous attempts to contact Esteban were made by telephone, sms, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) and email (copies of all communications shared with Airbnb to assist them with their enquiries). None of the communications were answered by Esteban. Instead he contacted Airbnb claiming he informed us subsequently that he had been told by Airbnb to vacate the condo – which he did without notifying us as the owners, our agent nor the Security in the building. To illustrate how irresponsible Esteban is, he left the door to our apartment unlocked, leaving the key on the dining room table. He also broke the door handle to the balcony and left without paying his share of the utility bills he was responsible for. After Esteban left we exchanged a number of communications in which he made further claims. Upon entering our abandoned apartment, my agent accompanied by a representative of the Security staff discovered the apartment left in a state of disarray (again photos shared with Airbnb). The claims Esteban made subsequently regarding faults with the washing machine and shower and an odour in the bathroom were all investigated and were each found to be completely untrue. In the meantime, we have been left with bills to pay for the utilities used by Esteban, bills to pay for his share of monthly dues and bills to pay for the damage he caused to our property. We have also been left with cleaning bills to clean the mess left behind by Esteban. We ask all prospective hosts to learn from our experiences. If you search for Esteban’s name on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) you will find his has a Police Record, something that Airbnb did not discover when seeking to verify his character. We have no doubt Esteban will make false accusations against us and we ask you to look at the outstanding feedback we have received from every other tenant for all of our apartments so that you might very quickly appreciate how we take our responsibilities seriously. Something unfortunately that Esteban by his actions evidently does not. We await the results of Airbnb’s investigations. They have received copies of every communications and photos and videos of the scene left behind when Esteban left our apartment unlocked and without notifying us our agent or Security. In response to the one criticism made by Esteban that we accept is true, we informed Esteban that the sofa had a burn mark left by a previous tenant and my agent showed this to him before he checked in. Esteban made no comment or complaint about this then. We have since discovered that in addition to abandoning our condo leaving the door unlocked and the apartment in a state of disarray, Esteban has changed the user name and password for the internet without informing us of his actions. We are frustrated that Esteban did not give us the opportunity to respond to his concerns, fabricating stories and walking away, literally, without letting anyone know. When we spoke to Airbnb directly they denied that any one of their representatives would have advised Esteban to leave without notifying us, our agent or Security and we invite Esteban to provide written proof of this claim. When Esteban amended his booking, he set the departure date for 9th August, but he left on the 8th August therefore walking away before the contracted date and before our agent might meet him to facilitate the handover... this being absent when the damage to our condo was discovered and seeking to avoid his responsibilities and obligations to pay his share of the bills incurred during his stay.

Communication with Neil was smooth as butter and his local handler Arlene was timely and prompt in checking us in. The unit was clean and well-equipped with a balcony overlooking the pool against a beautiful backdrop of the Manila panorama. The AC was nice and cool, the bed was super comfy and the cable internet was steady as a rock. All these together with a complete mall on the ground floor made for a superb stay, with every reason to keep coming back over and over again!
