I think everyone should feel like they live in a castle.

This unique open-concept high-vibe home with ecclectic decor is surrounded by trees on a 1 acre lot near the edge of Gatineau Park. A 12 person wood-fired outdoor sauna provides your own private spa-like experience. Also features a 30x40 foot gazebo and separate guest cabin. Lots of windows make you feel connected to the outdoors. Events and parties are strictly prohibited due to covid restrictions.

Le logement
It is a modern open-concept house built on top of a log cabin that has been described as a forest retreat or a castle in the woods thanks to some of personal decor touches.

This house is ideal for a couple wanting a romantic getaway, or friends and families who want to get out of the city and enjoy being together in a spacious high-vibe house surrounded by nature with lots of outdoor space. The open-concept promotes interaction. Lots of outdoor activities available in Gatineau Park and in the surrounding area described in detail in the "Location" section below in both winter and summer.

The bedrooms in the house are semi-private lofts. There are several privacy screens and curtains. The separate guest cabin is insulated and heated and can be used in winter.

While there is only one toilet, the Water Closet and shower room (which has a heated floor and towel bar) are separate rooms so it is always available even if someone is using the shower.

There is also an outhouse with a waterless ecological Sun-Mar brand composting toilet which I have been told is the nicest outhouse ever.

I leave a basket with a selection of shower gels and shampoos in the shower room and you can also bring your own of course. Biodegradble products are favoured. Lots of fluffy white towels. The jetted tub is in the upstairs master bedroom.

The sauna can be used all year, you must bring your own firewood which is sold in plastic bags at hardware stores for the sauna as regular firewood is too large for the sauna stove. For the outdoor shower, the water is shut-off from November to May to protect the plumbing.

Due to Covid restrictions, parties and events are strictly not allowed.

For wifi, I have an average plan which is sufficient for zoom video conferences and netlfix. Cellular reception is not very good but there is a 'booster' for the cell signal on the upstairs work desk where it is possible to talk on a cell phone. Outside the house the cell signal is stronger.

There are 3 outdoor cats that are not allowed in the house. I and/or my neighbour will take care of feeding them at the carport twice daily. They are mostly abandoned cats that just showed up and I am providing them with a sanctuary to live out their lives.

For the summer, there is no air conditioning but being out of the city it usually cools down considerably at night. I open all my windows at night and close them in the morning and the house usually stays quite comfortable until the evening and I provide a fan beside each bed. I suggest you check the weather forecast for Pontiac Quebec. In the winter, the house is heated with electric baseboard heaters and of course the wood stove really makes the place cosy.

The fall is amazing here and the winter is magical. I will provide you with a fixed amount amount of firewood for the wood stove as long as you commit using it appropriately and safely, which should be plenty for your stay.

No pets, no smoking in the house, thank you!

Luskville, Québec, Canada

The Pontiac is the western border of Gatineau Park, between the park and the Ottawa River. Gatineau Park is largely considered one of the treasures of the Ottawa valley.

Summer activities in Gatineau Park include swimming at beaches of LaPêche and Phillippe lakes, visiting the MacKenzie King estate, walk around Pink Lake, visiting the Lusk caves, driving up to the Champlain Belvedere, and much more. In the Winter the park has numerous groomed paths for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

In Luskville, I recommend the challenging but rewarding hike up the Luskville falls (10 min drive from the house).

You can drive through gatineau park via the Chemin Eardley-Masham to the town of Wakefield and visit covered bridge, swim in the river, rent a kayak, shop at its great boutiques such as Khewa, Jamboree and the Pirate's antiques, eat at it's great restaurants like Le Hibou, walk up Mill street to the old mill. Other nearby suggestions are to get ice cream at La Cigale in Chelsea.. In Fort Coulonge, one hour west, there is amazing zip-lining above the Coulonge falls and canyon.

Also in Winter, there is downhill skiing at Camp Fortune, Vorlage or Edelweiss, skating through the forest, especially candlelit nights in the nearby town of Lac Des Loups.

Downtown Ottawa is 45 minutes away down highway 148, that has great views of the gatineau hills and the Ottawa river.

I'm a professional living in the Ottawa area with a very unique house surrounded by trees that I am happy to share with other high-vibe people while I'm away.
Pendant votre séjour
I will be staying nearby and be reachable through airbnb during your stay, and either I or the neighbours can assist if you need help with anything. I will be feeding the cats at the carport every day, but it is far from the house and will not interrupt anyone.
