Le logement

The Casita is a self-contained apartment that is part of Hacienda on the Hill in Ajijic, a very unique property that is over 200 years old. In fact, it is one of the oldest haciendas on Lake Chapala. Originally a seminary, it has played several other roles in its lifetime including that of gold mine. The Casita overlooks the hacienda’s main house and is a very charming self-contained apartment. It has a full kitchen, living room, dining room, large bathroom with shower, a bedroom with a queen bed, a dressing room with a second single bed and a door to your own private terrace. The Casita retains some of the original Mexican details, including unique Saltillo tile floors and mosaic tile counters in the kitchen and bathroom. The views of Lake Chapala, Mount Garcia, and the village of Ajijic below from the private terrace, some of the best in Ajijic, will take your breath away. There is nothing better each evening than to sit on the terrace, drink in hand, enjoying an exceptional view of the sunset over the lake and distant mountains. The Casita is ideally located just a 10-minute walk down to the centre of the village. Do you feel like taking a hike? The best hiking trail up the mountain to either the chapel or the waterfall starts just outside your door. You will feel totally secure in The Casita since it has its own entrance and parking for one car in a private garage. This cozy unit includes cable, TV, DVD player, and WiFi. A telephone can be provide with telephone deposit.
Note: An unexpected surprise awaits you under your terrace – the most exquisite tiny consecrated chapel.

Leslie's casita is very homey and relaxing. The whole setting is peaceful, with a lovely view of Lake Chapala. Although I did not get to meet Leslie, Rocio was there to greet me and answer all my questions. Very helpful--what a dear! And since I was alone, it was nice to be greeted by the four furry friends when I hung out on the patio. The walk down the hill was fine, and cabs were available to come back. I definitely want to return to Ajijic.

What a spectacular property! Best views of the lake and mountains! The sunrises and sunsets were gorgeous! Leslie was a great host and kept the doors open to her beautiful home for us to enjoy. An unexpected surprise was the fresh baked bread, homemade jam, butter, eggs, yogurt, milk and fresh blueberries and raspberries in our refrigerator when we arrived! One of the best parts of this stay was Rocio, Leslie's helper. She was a great resource and a huge help to us during our stay. Leslie has 4 precious dogs who came around - especially Oscar. We wanted to bring him home with us!! Be prepared for a challenging walk up the hill to this beautiful place. Your reward will be this lovely property and fabulous views! If you don't want to walk, it is only a $2 - $3 USD taxi ride from the center of town. It was a great experience! Don't hesitate to book this unique place! It is actually more beautiful than the pictures show!

Leslie had an unexpected flood in her home due to heavy rains, but still welcomed us and gave us a beautiful set of rooms. She provided bread, eggs, jam, butter, coffee, fruit, and even a very nice bottle of wine. Hair dryer, shampoo, etc. also provided in bathroom. The view from this place of the lake is spectacular and we loved hiking up the mountain from the trail right behind the house to go up to the waterfalls. Only downside is if you don't like exercise and don't want to take a taxi for trips to town. It is only about a 10 minute walk, but the road is steep and cobbled so bring good shoes!

I had a wonderful few days at Leslie's casita. The place is spacious and close to central Ajijic. But best of all are the views from the large patio. I spent many hours on the loungers enjoying the clouds and the lovely weather. I appreciated the starter set of groceries like milk, eggs, butter, yogurt and cookies. Yes, it's a workout getting up the hill to the casita but it's well worth it.

We recently stayed at Leslie's and it was wonderful! The description was accurate however words can not describe the incredible views from everywhere on the expansive property. Leslie was very warm and accommodating. The Casita was a cozy home away from home with everything we needed including fresh fruit and breakfast fixings. We arrived during the celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe which lasted the entire time of our visit. The sound of rockets exploding all night was a little disruptive to our sleep but other than that it was a perfect getaway. The place was clean and neat and the grounds are meticulously manicured. The off street gated parking and the gated grounds provided a great since of security although the neighborhood is very nice and everyone is very friendly. It is up the hill from the town center of Ajijic but within a ten minute walk. The walk down the hill is relatively easy but the hike back up can be challenging if you're not in good shape. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes for the cobble stone streets! Leslie has four dogs that are amazing! Nobli, Shadow, Oscar and Luli are so adorable and made the stay that much more memorable! Thank you Leslie for the terrific accommodations and we hope to stay again on our next visit!

What a great stay and lovely host. Up the hill and away from the noise of town, this is a wonderful location. A real plus for me was the well stocked full kitchen. It's such a joy to be able to relax in the morning making your coffee to be enjoyed with pan dulce and an incredible view of the lake and village. That same view is just as lovely in the evenings, also to be enjoyed with refreshments while relaxing with the cool evening breezes.
