The house is near the idyllic village and beaches of Instow and Westward Ho! It is close to Exmoor and is ideally set between the towns of Bideford and Barnstaple. Days can be spent exploring the Tarka Trail, (the longest, continuous off-road cycle path in the UK), surfing or relaxing on the beaches - Westward Ho! (6 miles) or Saunton (12 miles) and Croyde (14 miles).
Instow has several good restaurants/ pubs, cafes, a deli and a shop and is all within a mile and a half of the property.

Le logement
Our house is a chalet bungalow that has been completely refurbished, giving it a light, airy and cosy interior. It is set in a small cul-de-sac off a lane that leads up to fields, fantastic views of the coast and towards the village of Instow.
The kitchen is at the back of the house and looks out onto the garden. It is modern with a dishwasher and a range cooker and is spacious enough to host a dining table. The kitchen then opens up into a lounge with 3 large windows looking out on to the front garden. It has a wrought iron gas fire which gives the room instant heat. The doors open from the kitchen and lounge into a light hallway showing open wooden stairs. Off to the right is another small lounge, called the snug, with a large corner sofa and TV. Beside the snug is the main double bedroom, with it's own en-suite shower and toilet.
Walking up the stairs and turning right you will find two double bedrooms and bathroom. Bedroom 3 has 2 has single beds and chest of drawers and looks out the front. Bedroom 2 has a double bed and chest of drawers. In the far corner of the landing is a bathroom with bath (also with an attachable shower hose), basin and toilet .
Downstairs leaving the kitchen via the back door leads to the garden with a wooden decking area with chairs and a table on the left. In the far right hand corner is a patio area with a large table and chairs for eating outside.
There is a lean-to shed outside which holds a couple of body boards and bikes. This is very useful for storing larger items which guests may bring with them.
A small utility room is set off from the kitchen and holds the washing machine, extra freezer dryer.
Look at the photos for descriptions and views.

Accès des voyageurs
You have can access to the whole house ( except one locked room) and gardens in this quiet cul-de-sac. There is a small outhouse where we house a small freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also a lean- too-shed where there are a couple of body-boards and bikes, which guests are welcome to use. There is plenty of space to park your own bikes/ boards/ equipment.

Autres remarques
You can simply relax on the beaches, walk the coastal paths, use the Tarka Trail or browse around the local shops. If you'd like to be more active then there is plenty to do - walking, cycling, running, surfing, swimming and even coaststeering (jumping off rocks into the sea). There are local lessons available for both the surfing and coaststeering.
You certainly have everything you need!

The cul-de-sac is quiet and relaxed with friendly neighbours. The property is just off the main road between Barnstaple and Bideford.
Upon leaving the property and turning right, the lane takes you up a hill where you can access footpaths, fields and enjoy the fantastic views of Instow and the estuary, as well as the sunsets, (see photos attached). If you continue on the lanes you can walk the back route to Instow.
If you turn left out of the property and cross the main road you can access the Tarka Trail down a farm track and then use this to walk/cycle to Barnstaple (turn right) going past Fremington Quay ( which is the old railway station that serve coffee and cake - delicious! To get to Bideford (turn left) which takes you past Instow, to the beach and coffee shops.

I grew up in Devon, left, but have recently returned to north Devon with my husband, who was born here. We have 4 children who all enjoy the outdoors especially the sea. We do lots of walking, with our Cocker Spaniel, running and cycling as well as swimming and body boarding, especially in the summer. We often return to Dorset, where our children grew up, and enjoy letting our home out to Airbnb so that others can enjoy the stunning area.
