Wongarra Farm is a magnificent sustainable working farm on 90 acres of exquisite rolling green hills overlooking the Great Southern Ocean. It is ideally placed just 2km inland from the Great Ocean Road and 20 minutes from Apollo Bay, offering the best of local ocean beaches and unspoilt rainforest.
The farm is wonderfully diverse and includes rich green pasture, two creeks, several dams, native bush and fern-lined gullies. It borders the large Otways Main Ridge Conservation Reserve rain forest and hosts abundant native animals and birds, including koalas, wallabies, bower birds and wedge-tailed eagles.
The farm produces the highly sought after Black Perigord truffles. It also produces grass-fed beef and lamb, free-range eggs and pork as well as a wide range of fruits, vegetables and berries. The farm is a prized example of productive, chemical-free farming whilst maintaining respect for the native environment. After you make your booking, ask about what produce is available and we can have it waiting for you when you arrive.
The elegant cedar homestead is sited close to a beautiful gurgling creek, waterfall and picturesque pond. The generous living areas look out over an expansive lawn with views of the mature exotic garden and ocean beyond. The house comprises three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a sun room, laundry, large well-appointed kitchen and abundant open plan living and dining areas.
Two wood-fired heaters and reverse cycle air conditioning guarantee comfort all year round. The kitchen features a large dual fuel stove, dishwasher, microwave, espresso machine and enormous bench space. The dining room has a large table seating 8 people as well as a piano. The master bedroom on the second floor features an ensuite with spa bath as well as picture windows with views to die for. Two further bedrooms downstairs feature access to the outdoor decking and two bathrooms. The second bedroom has a queen-sized bed and the third has two bunks and a trundle bed. The sun room can double as an additional bedroom. The wide decking overlooks a large lawn and paved entertaining area with an ocean backdrop. From here it is a short walk to a fern-lined waterfall and pond with secret paths leading along the creek. The farm's pastures, orchard, berry patch, greenhouse and truffiere are also just a short walk from the house.
Wongarra Farm is ideal for a family holiday getaway or a romantic and indulgent unwind. It is a wonderful experience to see an ethical and productive farm in action but also a terrific base for adventures in the surf, whale watching, surf fishing, the regional gastronomy, the Otways Fly, the numerous horse and mountain bike trails, not to mention stunning displays of the night sky and the simple majesty of the native flora and fauna. There are rich experiences to be had right through all the four seasons.
You can walk the farm to see the very content cattle, happy pigs and raucous chooks or wander down the fern-lined creek and waterfall. Your host Roderick is more than happy to take you on a guided tour.
Wongarra Farm. A slice of paradise.

I live in a cottage separate to the homestead and can be available to show you around the farm and offer local tips or I can leave you to your privacy.
After 25 years working in the arts, running various performance companies and programs, I ran away from the circus and settled on a magnificent farm in the Otways to create in a different way. I now enjoy getting the most out of this beautiful land whilst still allowing myself a few quiet moments to take in the wonderful surroundings. I also brew beer, create my own charcuterie and write fiction.
