Le logement

The private room with your own bath rents for $60/night ( please note two week minimum stay ) , $400/week, $1300/month which would include private bath, private refrigerator and microwave and washer/dryer in the basement. You will have off street parking space.

You will have access to the main kitchen and balcony on the lower level

I like to maintain privacy and am very busy, but I am very worldly and friendly.

Autres remarques

After the radiator leaked one night ( as noted by one guest, it had been replaced and is working well ). Please note that you will live in the upper level of a two level condo. The lower level is occupied by me, my 13 y.o. son and a Persian cat ( most people who are allergic to cats are NOT allergic to Persians and the cat can be contained to the lower level).

Parking gratuit sur place
Internet sans fil

Chambre 1
1 lit queen size

Règlement intérieur
Non fumeur
Ne convient pas aux animaux

I prefer that the guest and I dwell on separate floors. If you use the kitchen you will be expected to clean up after yourself every time. Please note that I can hear you walking so if you are someone who paces through the night this would not be a good fit:) You, however, will hear nothing from downstairs.

Julia was great! I wasn't around very often (and Julia often went on trips with her son - I guess because he had summer vacation haha), so I wasn't able to interact with her often, but she is very nice! Her cat fluffy is also super fun to hang with. Just a PSA ( I think an earlier review said it ), the room comes with a mini fridge (this is the mini kitchen) - so if you want to stay long term, you'll have to use the kitchen downstairs. The room is pretty large, clean, and comfy! I always slept well (but make sure to bring blinds if you're a late riser because the sunlight does go through. No need to worry about noise.

Julia was a pleasant host and very accommodating as well. She got me settled in very quick on the first day and responded timely to any questions thereafter. The room had everything I needed personally, with more than enough room to store my belongings. The bed was comfortable and large, and room has a minifridge/microwave. There is a private bathroom too. The location is very close to a bus stop that reaches Harvard Square, and from there are many trains you can take elsewhere to get around on foot. More than enough things to do on the weekends. The neighborhood itself is also very safe, neighbors are quiet and friendly. Overall, it was a very nice stay and I am glad I chose to stay here.

This is a good place to stay if you are looking for quiet and privacy, just like the listing says. You will need to travel through the main apartment to reach the upper floor, but Julia is friendly and welcoming. She is also an excellent communicator, and responded to all of my questions and concerns within minutes on average. Julia was traveling quite a bit during my stay and invited me to enjoy the balcony on the main floor, which is lovely and relaxing. The room is as described. In addition to the private bathroom, which is small and functional, there is a fairly capacious chest of drawers, a work area with desk chair and shelving, and a small closet area. Julia provided a few hangers but I also picked up a few more. If you like a firm mattress, this place is for you. It's essentially an attic room, so the ceiling slopes towards the edges and taller guests may whack their heads a few times before getting a feel for things (I know I did). There is a skylight that provides good light during the day, but has no shade or cover. In the summer in New England, this means that first light is around 5 am, and if you are light-sensitive you will almost certainly be woken up before you'd like. The location is just OK if you're on foot, with a supermarket within walking distance and a few restaurants. The commuter rail and the bus are also close if you need that sort of thing. The neighborhood is silent during the evenings. Overall, a great place to stay, if you are truly in search of peace and quiet.

Hello, Kartik, I am sorry if you felt a bit neglected. I hope you realized that I just did not want to be intrusive but I will pay attention with next guest. You are right! Have a great time, Julia.

Julia was a very polite host that offers a large and quiet room in a safe neighborhood. She was generous enough to offer me food and tea when I "checked in" late after work. She also offered me a discounted monthly rate, as I had planned on staying 3-6 months. That said, there are some inaccuracies with the amenities she described in her listing. There is far more furniture than pictured, and the room is a very spacious size! She offers essentials like soap, TP, hangars, (and more) despite not listing them as features. Also a lap-top friendly work space, and a key to one of the doors of the house. But then some features she lists (like kitchen access) are less clear. The description says there is access to the main kitchen, but instead, a mini fridge and microwave were provided (to be used as the sole forms of cooking). This is okay for short stays, but not for extended ones. However, the major reason I ended my stay early was because the radiator in the room leaks at night, and flooded some of the room. The radiator is not pictured on the listing, was quite loud, and was not very warm. If I was a friend staying in the room, I would not mind at all. Things happen! But as a paying guest, it was not something I wanted to choose to live with.

I had a great time staying at Julia's place! She was very nice and welcoming, pointing out fun things to do in Boston and how to find my way around. The room was clean and quite spacious for a loft, the bed has a great firm mattress, quiet and peaceful neighborhood. I would stay there again. Thank you, Julia!
