Villa Chryssa, situated away from the madding crowd, yet only 10 minutes away from the nearest beach and also from the city of Chania, is an ideal destination for families, couples and people seeking to combine quiet and adventurous holidays. Villa Chryssa is situated at the outskirts of the village of Verypetro in the midst of beautiful hills and olive and orange trees fields. We recommend car hire to get the most out of this traditional villa.
It is a stroke of luck that this villa is situated three minutes drive from the water park of Limnoupolis, ideal for children.
This very popular, well equipped villa offers modern amenities with traditional styling. It is owned by a Greek family who have taken great care to furnish it recently in the traditional way. The villa has a private pool, garden and BBQ and sleeps up to 6 adults. Children can be accommodated on the sofa bed.
The ground floor has an open plan kitchen/diner and lounge area. The kitchen/diner is fully equipped and has a table and seating for 8 people. The traditionally furnished lounge area has sofas, chairs, occasional furniture, a fireplace, TV. There is also a shower room on this floor with shower, wc and wash basin.
All three of the lovely air-conditioned bedrooms, three doubles and one twin, are on the second floor where the main bathroom is also situated. The bedrooms have doors opening up to balcony with stunning views of the mountains.
A large, private landscaped garden with swimming pool and BBQ completes the amenities on offer. Around the pool there an extensive area with sun beds and parasols.

This is a lovely villa 10 minutes from Chania. The wonderful Efi was there to greet us even though we arrived very late and was available throughout our stay for any queries. The house is large and rusticly decorated with a beautiful outdoor space and pool. Highly recommended for families and groups of friends. This was a great place from which to explore eastern Crete. You will definitely need a car as nearest taverna and minimart are at least a 5 minute drive or very long walk. We did have a difficulty with wifi here, which Efi and Manolis tried hard to rectify, however we were unable to connect for the duration of our stay. Nevertheless, this Villa is highly recommended.

What a beautiful house! Fully equipped with absolutely everything we could possibly need within the most beautiful and tranquil surroundings. sunbathing and swimming in the pool whilst looking up and around at luscious green mountains it really was gorgeous. Manolis had a lovely girl show us around the property and she gave us all the information we needed to find the local supermarket to stock up the fridge etc. It's a great house to cook in, a large kitchen with all the appliances you need to cook with the lovely fresh local produce and we spent a lot of time eating outside whilst gazing out at the lovely views. Conveniently located a short drive from the airport, and the city of Chania, it is the perfect balance of practical and tranquil. The whole house is also very tastefully decorated, especially the master bedroom. We will definitely be staying again.

Just returned from a wonderful 2 1/2 weeks at the beautiful Villa Chryssa (or Chrisa). The communication beforehand via Airbnb with Manolis (in our case done by Kyriaki) went smoothly, and the famous Greek hospitality easily won hands down from any stresses connected to the Euro-crisis (at a high-point just as we were leaving for Crete). Eirini - as local contact - was very kind, meeting us at the villa despite our very late arrival time, and was thoughtful enough to put a few breakfast essentials in the fridge. Eirini speaks good English and has useful tips on things to do. Navigation tip: (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps did a better job of finding the villa than a TomTom. The villa is very nice: a real Cretan house, renovated in tasteful style to a very good level of facilities. It matches the online description and photos very well, and was very clean and well-kept. We were there with five people (size-wise, all adults) and it was perfectly comfortable. The traditional stone construction and window shutters means the house is cool inside, and there is ample shade outside near the house. The pool is large, nestling nicely beside the flowery borders and ending at a charming little vineyard. The rural village life surrounding the property guarantees a very welcome gear-change for those escaping urban hustle and bustle. A car is a necessity, but driving in Crete is fun, and it is only a short (10-15 min.) drive to shops, be they the local butcher/baker or a couple of international supermarket chains. The main 'national road', heading west-east close to the northern coast of Crete is also only ca 15 min. away. Just before you get there, one drives past Platia Eleftheriou Venizelou (close to the house in which the Cretan/Greek historical figure was born, also close to the general hospital), and you can enjoy a simple but tasty dinner at a restaurant called Cyprus. Ffollow the owner into his cool-cell to look at and discuss the fresh meats he has on offer, and then your steak is cut on the butcher's block before your eyes and heads off to be grilled over charcoal. Chania is ca. 20-25 min. drive, and the nearest beaches (if you're not fussy) roughly the same. Beach-wise, we explored a bit further afield. Our favourite was Marathi (a beach which 'looks back' at the north coast and the mountains behind, and has numerous taverns on the waterfront with a nice mix of Greek and visitors as guests. We also enjoyed trips to the sea at Palaiochora (south coast) and Falassarna (west coast). The Botanical Park and Gardens of Crete are also quite close by and certainly worth a visit - they also have a nice restaurant using only Cretan products. All in all it was a very nice place to stay, and we would recommend it very highly.
