My design philosophy is classic with a quirky twist and every piece must tell a story. Artwork and pieces are sourced from overseas design stores to being restored after dragging them off the curb side throw outs. Design plays a big part in creating a friendly, relaxing environment conducive to 'just hanging out'. We pride ourselves on our extremely high standard of cleanliness and the high quality of our linen (1500 thread count pure cotton sheets and organic shower/hair wash) We are so fortunate to have hosted so many wonderful people who love the space as much as we do and consider it their Brisbane home away from home. Our housekeeper cleans the common areas daily and rooms weekly (towels changed bi-weekly) for those staying longer than a week. Indigo Suite is situated at the back of the house and almost the entire back wall is filled with glass louvre windows which allows the breeze and light to flood in. However if a dark, quiet cocoon is your preference than the heavy, dark curtains can be simply drawn. The suite which has it's own key access includes a desk and private en suite bathroom. It is one of four in a newly renovated guest house. There are multiple common areas, designed for either maximum relaxation or socialising. Common areas include a long verandah (52sqm) located behind a wall of glass louvred windows with views across the city, a small study/library, sitting room with large TV and lounge, and a bright and airy dining room adjoining the kitchen area. The gourmet kitchen is modern, extremely clean and fully equipped with a coffee machine, double-door fridge with ice maker and cold filtered water, gas cook top, fruit and vegetable juicer. The communal laundry has a washing machine, ironing facilities and toilet.

It is self check in so often we do not get to meet our lovely guests. The guest house is located on the top floor of a two-storey Queenslander-style duplex. We live very busy lives so we can be working or staying at our other home. You can contact us by telephone if you have any queries. We drop by weekly to say hello and check on things. We have the downstairs apartment although we are not always living there. Our friendly housekeeper is there Monday to Friday 9:30-12:30 to clean and tidy and to answer any of your questions.
Watch this space as hoping to install air-condition this summer. There is only a few weeks of the year where temperatures are unbearably hot. It is both an environmental and affordability issue that has prevented us from installing air conditioners. For 90 percent of the year, they are not required. We also for similar reasons do not have a clothes dryer. There are industrial driers available at the end of the street should they be required.
We have two bikes available for free use and can be booked for half day blocks. Please call or text me for further details.
If you would like to escape Brisbane we have a studio cottage nestled in the rainforest of stunning Tamborine Mountain which is a one hour drive from Brisbane in the Gold Coast hinterland. If you are interested in amazing views, spectacular rainforest walks we can provide you with the perfect hideaway.
Out of respect to other guests and when we are residing downstairs , we would ask that noise be kept to a discreet level. No parties or large gatherings unless otherwise discussed and agreed, absolutely no smoking inside and no pets.
We would ask that the house be left clean and tidy at all times including cleaning and putting away dishes and wiping benches and cooktop (I can not stress this enough as this is a courtesy to other guests and reduces an invitation for insect pests) in the kitchen after each use. No personal belongings be left in common areas. The shared kitchen situation seems to work well and has become a hub where guest socialise as they prepare their meals. We have noticed that this works well when guests prepare and clean up immediately (washing preparation dishes as they go) before sitting down to enjoy their food.
The common areas are cleaned regularly but your assistance in taking excess recycled waste to the bins at the front would be greatly appreciated.
Clothes lines are provided in each room but for larger items please hang on lines provided in laundry.
Many guests are often working and we are more than happy for you to work from the house but please do not invite colleagues, family and friends to work from the house unless otherwise discussed with us. This includes sharing the internet password. Internet in Australia is overall not great. We have a reasonable amount of data but we do ask that you do not stream or download. By doing this it will inevitably be shaped. If you would like to download or stream, the state library which is not far from our house has free internet.
No filming or photography unless otherwise discussed.
Of course, if you are staying and wish to give us a shout out on instagram or on your travel blog we welcome it but would love to know if this happens so we can follow/like. Follow us on @plantation_accommodation

I am an Australian Producer/Director married to a cinematographer. We have three children (21, 16 and 12 years). We live between our home in the mountains outside Brisbane, surrounded by rainforest and views to the ocean and our inner city, West End house. I love design, art, gardening, keeping fit, travel, music, reading, this list goes on and on. Our daughter is a fluent French speaker and understands a little Spanish so she can always help if you need translation.
