A relaxed 1890s home with comfort and charm in a great location -- close to BART (and 20 minute train ride to SF), 20 minute walk to the UC Berkeley campus, 30 seconds from the best grocery store in the Bay Area -- the Berkeley Bowl.
The room is private, quiet, and clean with an attached bath for your exclusive use while you're home.
The guest room has plenty of room for you to unpack, and the bed is a comfortable queen (people always report sleeping well on it). The attached bathroom was recently redone and is all yours when you are home (my room/bathroom is upstairs).
Accès des voyageurs
Enjoy the whole main floor which includes the kitchen, dining room, living room, another sitting room, plus a deck (with great morning sun) and backyard. There is no TV but good wifi and a ridiculously nice stereo. If you want privacy that's not in your bedroom, you can hang out in the green sitting room and close the door.

I try to be good at sensing and adapting to what guests want -- to give you space and privacy if you want, or a little more interaction. Generally I'm just doing my thing and living life, and just keep doing that when people stay here. I'm happy to suggest restaurants and things to do if you would like.
This room comfortably accommodates two people. No pets or guests, sorry...
People often ask so to confirm ahead of time: please feel free to use the kitchen to cook.
Treat the space as you would your friend's home, and you will always be welcome! Absolutely no smoking, pets, events, parties, gatherings, guests, etc.
I'm 41, from Iowa originally, and have been in San Francisco/Oakland/Berkeley since 1999. Five years ago I bought a house I love, and I try to make it as comfortable and welcoming as I can for myself, old friends, new friends, and guests. For work I've done and do a lot of things, but for the last 12 years I've generally been focused on making cities better, happier, healthier places.
As far as hosting goes, I've stayed a lot of places and have had quite few people stay here --- I like people (obviously) but am good at giving you the space I sense you want. More than anything, I just want people to feel as comfortable, welcome, and at ease as possible ---I like the airbnb situations where I can truly relax, and I try to have my home feel like that.
I live here with Anna, my special lady friend? Girlfriend? Partner? Something like that. She is Finnish and from the Arctic Circle, but has been in the US for 5+ years and also lived in Israel for 5 years or so.
