My husband and I rented this fun little cottage for a month over the summer and had a great time. It is situated on a lovely, and very secluded, hillside with nothing but quiet all around the house. There are a couple neighbors in the vicinity (so it's not creepy isolated) - but we never really heard / saw anyone but the occasional deer.
The size of the house was perfect for our needs. While there are only two of us, we did have friends join for a couple weekends, and there was plenty of room for four people to hang out and enjoy themselves. The kitchen is tight if you have multiple cooks in your crew - but it suited our purposes really well.
The place is nicely designed and outfitted - with cozy furniture and fun (albeit a little quirky) artwork. The beds both have really comfy, firm foam mattresses that we and our guests enjoyed. The outdoor furniture is useful, comfortable, and well maintained.
Overall, the condition of the house was pretty good. During the course of our stay, we did have a few things that broke or needed repair (a screen door, a leaky faucet) - but it was all seemingly-routine stuff, and Jackie did an amazing job of quickly addressing problems and working around our schedule to fix things.
The one thing that left us a little underwhelmed was the kitchen. The bowls and plates were mismatched and sometimes chipped - which wasn't horribly surprising for a country house, but definitely felt a little inconsistent with the rest of the tastefully outfitted space. This sounds kind of petty, but the house did not have 4 matching wine glasses - which again, is not horrible - just not what we were expecting. Cooking tools were a little hit-or-miss as well (e.g., lovely bbq tongs and microplane; no vegetable peeler).
Overall, we would definitely recommend the house. We had a great time and spent some lovely, relaxing weekends up there. If entertaining or cooking is important to you, you might want to bring your favorite knives/gadgets along for your stay, and stop at Crate & Barrel on the drive up for some wine glasses. :-) Otherwise, enjoy your stay!
