Description
Description

Unique apartment in a 14th-century Gothic extension of the Charles Bridge (a UNESCO World Heritage site).

We would like to welcome you to our newly-refurbished luxury apartment in the heart of the most beautiful city in Europe.
The apartment is located literally next to the Charles Bridge and shares a wall with it! The apartment occupies an unrivalled position in the heart of old Prague, with direct views from the living room/bedroom of the bridge, Prague Castle, St. Nicholas Church and Church of St. Mary on the Old Town Square (see photos). The apartment is fully equipped with a kitchenette and bathroom with toilet.

As soon as you step off the street – originally the famous “Royal Route” - through the main gate of the building, you will feel like you have stepped back in time. The building is one of the few in the centre of Prague still inhabited by original residents, preserving its original spirit.
The entrance to the apartment is from a quaint internal top-floor balcony – a typical architectural feature of Czech historical buildings.
The balcony, kitchen and bathroom face directly towards Petřín Hill and the tower of Church st.Mary.

On your arrival we will give you an introduction, basic orientation and answer any questions you may have. We have also prepared for you in the apartment an information book with all necessary information about Prague such as public transport, where to go, how to use SMART TV, etc, together with many guide books in English and other books about the beautiful city.

If you have any questions about the apartment and its location, please do not hesitate to ask! We will do our best to arrange everything for you so you can have an unforgettable stay in Prague! Just contact us with your requests.

History of our house:)
Originally a set of houses inspired by Italian architecture, whose foundation is a 14th-century Gothic construction. Also known as “Saxon House”, the collection of buildings was passed to Saxon dukes by King Charles IV (1316 till 1378) as a property inheritance linked to the completion of the Charles Bridge in 1357, and was held by them until 1409. Extensive cellars and part of the walls of the building remain from the Gothic building. Elements can still be seen of reconstruction from the Renaissance period (around 1580
and probably under the architect J.C. Bossi), when the building was owned by the Czech Trczka von Leipa line of nobility. Elements from this period include the monumental entrance from Mostecká/bridge/ Street.
From 1826 till 1828 the building underwent modifications in neoclassical style, adding the third floor in which the apartment is located. The floor served as an office of the Austro-Hungarian military administration (the Czech lands were a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire until 1918). During the 19th century the building was the location of the famous V. Steinitz tavern, a centre of Czech cultural life, and from 1898 till 1932 a bookshop and stationery shop owned by Josef Šváb Malostranský (1860 till 1932), cabaret artist and the first Czech film actor.
