This was the ideal place to stay if visiting the Tallgrass Prarie Preserve. Less than 5 mins away. Kris has done a great job of making the place comfortable and well equipped.

We had a wonderful stay, and would return the next time we want to hike in the Tallgrass National park. It's only 5 minutes from there, so it was an easy place to rest and have a warm shower and cozy bed after our day outdoors.

Lots of hard work and talent have gone into creating a very inviting guest house in this classic small ranching town, so we credit you, Kris and Pat, with a big success. The floor plan is ideal, and your design ideas are spot on. The breakfast treats were much appreciated, as were the train whistles! Our contact with you was prompt and helpful, with clear instructions. Dinner at nearby Ad Astra was absolutely perfect, a warm welcome, stylish, genuine, comfortable atmosphere, great music, great service, top notch food.

We had a great visit to Strong City! The host was prompt and very nice. The farm fresh eggs were a hit. We highly recommend everyone to visit the Tallgrass Prairie what a beautiful sight and it has over 40 miles of hiking.

My family loved the Larkin Inn in Strong City. Kris was a great host and the home was awesome. My kids loved it as well along w the Strong City park across the street and the Tall Grass Preserve.

We were lucky enough to see two of Kris' homes. Both in quiet, small town neighborhoods. Both well done, interesting, renovated older homes (which we love). Kris was a great host, very caring and welcoming! We loved our stay and enjoyed the Tallgrass Prairie!!

The proprietors of The Lark Inn Guest Houses Property Management are Kris and Pat Larkin. Originally, Okies from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kris and Pat moved to the Flint Hills after living in southern California for over 20years.

While in California Kris and Pat discovered and developed their gifts of hospitality; preparing and serving meals for literally hundreds of people for numerous events. They also hosted so many groups at their home over the years that people modified their last name of “Larkin” and began to refer to their home as “The Lark Inn” . . . thus the name was born.

After selling their property management business in California, they set out on what they termed their “Second Half Discovery Tour” (see their blog: (URL HIDDEN) The purpose of the tour was to travel and experience various parts of the US and discover what they were to do and where they were going to spend the second half of their lives.

Having been blessed with a successful first half of their lives, now the goal is to do something significant in their second halves . . . from success to significance. Anyway, with a little help from their friends, they discovered the miracle of The Flint Hills of Kansas and moved there!

It didn’t take long for Kris and Pat to learn that lodging in The Flint Hills was not plentiful and so they bought their first guest house in Cottonwood Falls. It stayed consistently rented on a nightly basis all of the summer of 2010. Then owners of other properties have sought Pat & Kris to revitalize their properties and/or build them a new guesthouse from the ground up.

Kris revitalized The Cottage on Cottonwood the summer of 2014 for the owner and now it can be enjoyed by all. The Larkins manage the property for the owners who also live in Chase County.
