À propos de ce logement
A very large bedroom in a lovely part of Berlin. Supermarkets, restaurants, cafes + shops are all in walking distance as are highlights like the abandoned Tempelhof Airport + Viktoria Park. Can walk to major tourist attractions in 30mins or they're just a short 10min train ride away. We are well connected by train and bus!
A beautiful apartment bordering Kreuzberg, Tempelhof and Neukölln and right by the stunning Viktoria Park (the highest natural point in Berlin). It's an older building but comes complete with elevator and secret passageway behind a cupboard in the kitchen (true story!). Super warm and is fully furnished.
The room available is an incredibly large, white double room, you'll be hard-pressed to find one like it elsewhere in Berlin! Gets a lot of sun in the summer months and incredibly cosy and warm in winter.
The apartment is quite old and has a few quirks to it. The shower is old-school German in that it is a hand held ordeal. There isn't a clip to hand the shower head basically (and no way to fashion one – trust us, we've tried!) but once you get the hang of it, it becomes normal pretty quickly. The floors are quite squeaky too but as long as you're not stomping around we're very used to the general squeaks so don't worry about making noise if you come home after we're already in bed. Also due to the old wiring in the building the main light switches in the room don't work but we've filled the room with heaps of lamps so you'll never be without light!
Accès des voyageurs
You are welcome to full-use of the kitchen and bathroom. There are some house-rules with these things, but it's all just common sense stuff when you are in a shared flat. We encourage you to drink our coffee as Tim and I both don't drink it but guests always leave it behind!

Tim (musician, UK) and I (photographer/graphic designer, NZ) are both very welcoming and are very happy to chat and get to know you, but also give you the space you need as a guest in our home. We can happily point out all the good bars/restaurants to go to and the best touristy highlights as well, if that's what you're into! We both work from home during the day and we tend to get quite busy then but outside of work hours we're free for chit chats!
As said before, we are very close to Viktoria Park, which holds Berlin's highest natural point in it and the abandoned Tempelhof Airport is a short walk away.
Down in Mehringdamm there are lots of good restaurants, cafes and bars and also a few great vintage-clothing stores.
We are surrounded by supermarkets, the closest being 5mins walk away.
We are one minute's walk from Platz Der Luftbrucke U-bahn (U6), which gives you easy access to Tegel Airport (29mins) or Wedding (15 mins - clubs such as Stadtbad etc). And one tube stop or an 8 minute walk from Mehringdamm station (U7) giving you 2 - 3 stop access to Neukolln, Kreuzberg etc etc. Mitte is 20mins by train and Prenzlauerberg 30mins.
Sometimes we have other Airbnb guests in our second spare room. For this reason we ask that you maintain a low noise level and remember to respect and acknowledge that there are other people residing in the apartment.
House is strictly non-smoking indoors, but we do have a balcony where you are welcome to do so, if the window to the bedroom which looks out onto the balcony is closed. We ask that you remove your shoes when wandering around inside, as we have a grumpy older woman living below us who doesn't appreciate clomping around! No party-people please.

We are Alice and Tim! Alice is originally from NZ and Tim hails from London and we've been living in Berlin for just over four years (embarrassingly, our German language skills do not reflect this!). Alice is a graphic designer/photographer and Tim a musician/baker. We're pretty relaxed and easy-going people who love to cook, travel, and also hang out and explore this vibrant city we're living in.
