À propos de ce logement
Our lakeview home is in the best neighborhood in South Lake Tahoe, 5 minutes from Heavenly's California Lodge, 20 minutes from Sierra-at-Tahoe, and 45 minutes from Kirkwood. We are also steps from great snowshoeing, hiking, and backcountry skiing.
From the front door, you can go up the stairs to be greeted by a panoramic lake and mountain view out the enormous picture windows--the view is even better than in the pictures; it is one of the best views in all of South Lake Tahoe. The living area is spacious and includes a dining area, sunken living room, hard wood and slate floors, modern kitchen with all appliances, and large decks to enjoy the expansive view. One bedroom with attached bath will be available and is located upstairs. Downstairs, there are two bedrooms available and a bathroom with bathtub. One bedroom is also used as the library/work-out room and opens via slider onto a deck where you will find a hot tub, which also has forest and lake views. One of the single-car garages will be available for guest use.
The house has five bedrooms, but two of the rooms are used as offices and will not be available to guests. There is a queen-sized bed in two of the bedrooms and a full-sized futon in the other, all with quality bedding. This house is super roomy for up to 6 guests and could probably accommodate 12-15 (most of the houses in our neighborhood of this size do), but we would like to limit the number of guests.
If you are a smaller party or 2-3, I am willing to come down on the price, depending on the time of year.
One of the garages may have a car in it, but the rest of the house, as well as the other garage, decks, hot tub, and grounds, are for guest use.
We will be there to check you in and available by phone if needed.
The house is located in a quiet neighborhood on 1/3 of an acre across from the forest but is still 5 minutes from skiing, shops, restaurants, bars, and the casinos. The house has one of the most amazing lake views in all of south shore, access to miles of trails for skiing and snowshoeing, and it is conveniently located between Heavenly and Sierra-at-Tahoe with Kirkwood only 35 minutes away. The casinos are five minutes away.
Included is a one-car garage, space to park three additional vehicles on the driveway. It is an easy 5-minute taxi-ride to the casinos.
We have a well-equipped modern kitchen with granite counters, dishwasher, garbage disposal, coffee maker, soda stream, microwave, toaster, and nice oven, and modern front-loading washer and dryer. Guests should note that there is no TV. There is a large dining room table for dinners and a gas fireplace in the living room. We also offer two pair of snowshoes for guest use, as well as an elliptical machine. We also have a snow plow service for the driveway. The house is at the top of a hill, so 4WD/AWD or snow tires may be needed when it's snowing. All linens and towels will be provided. The internet is signal is strong and there is good cell phone coverage (which isn't always the case in certain places in Tahoe). The beds and bedding are good--two queen-sized beds (one pillow-top, the other more firm) and a full-sized futon, so this house is ideal for two-three couples. We have stayed in places with bad beds and know what a bummer this is. This house will provide you with a good night's sleep before you hit the slopes. There is also an extensive library (2,000 + books) in the house for those who would prefer to sit by the fire (or in the hot tub) to read.
Also, we do not have children and would not know the first thing about child-proofing, so though we are more than happy to host families, the house is not child-proofed, so toddlers and young children will need more supervision.

We will be there to check you in and out and just a phone call away if you need anything. Other than that, we will leave you alone.
This is our primary house, so the kitchen is stocked with any appliance or gadget you would need. The house is decorated with original art by many local artists, as well as things from around the world that we have found on our travels. We have a lot of local knowledge on outdoor activities and provide a welcome packet with suggestions for restaurants, bars, and other sorts of entertainment.
No more than 6 guests. No smoking, please. No pets. We have a dog who lives here when we're here, so anyone with severe pet allergies should take note of that. But please don't bring your pets. Also, we have neighbors who live here full-time and enjoy the quiet neighborhood, so no loud parties, please. And please park your cars in the driveway (up to 4 cars) and not on the street--you will avoid getting an expensive ticket this way when it snows.

I am a travel writer, poet, college professor, and sometimes photographer. My husband Thomas is a college administrator and sometimes home beer brewer. We currently split our time between South Lake Tahoe, Sacramento, and travelling. We love to travel, ski, and backpack.
We have a gorgeous lake view home in the best neighborhood in South Lake Tahoe and are excited to share it with other like-minded travelers. And even better if we can share our favorite places to hike, mountain bike, backpack, backcountry ski, and snowshoe (many of these places are out our front door).
Last summer, we hiked across England. The summer before that, we hiked home (to our front door--yes, you can do that) from Yosemite. I have written a book on hiking the John Muir Trail and also write travel writing articles.
We have never owned a TV but have thousands of books. We are happy staying in hostels but are also wine snobs. Our favorite thing to do when we travel to a new place is to land with no plans and figure it out as we go.
We are both outdoorsy, and I have worked as a backpacking guide and ski instructor; Thomas has worked as a kayak guide and Outward Bound instructor. But we also appreciate fine art, wine, food, and poetry, theatre, and literature.
We have been married 5 years and have a very mischievous, but handsome, chow-German Shepherd named Ely that we rescued.
We love our life in Tahoe and want to share it with others.
