Very nice house and a relaxed host who's always up for a joke or two. Well located, right in front of the Royal Parade where a tram is always waiting to take you to the heart of the CBD (but walking from the house to the city was pleasant as well). Also it is a 10 minute walk to …
I had a nice stay at Sebastian's place. He was very accommodating and for the most part the house was well kept. However, some things to note are that at one point there were about 7 people sharing the bathroom. It wasn't a huge problem for me, but there were times hot water for …

As described: "Please note that there this is a private bedroom in a shared house, which means there are other people living at the property (between five and seven). Although there are two separate toilets, the bathroom with a bath and a shower is shared. And since it's a private property, there are no locks on the bedroom doors - we trust each other and our guests:)" I just wanted to note that there was a period of "overbooking" during Jessie's stay and while I changed over the laundry as we now share a backyard with the house next door. During this period (and after) I continue to apologise guests who experienced this disruption. I also wanted to note that there is a spare fridge running in the kitchen which is still empty three days after Jessie's moveout and that we believe the kitchen situation is above the inner-north suburbs-of-Melbourne- shared house standard. If refrigerator space becomes a big issue for you during your stay, we are happy to schedule a fridge cleanout and alert all our guests at once. We also note that you may request to use the facilities next door at any time although we continue to set up there and hope to maintain it as a little bit more personal space.
I stayed here for 7 weeks whilst on placements at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Royal Children's Hospital. Pros: Exceptionally good location for the hospitals and Melbourne University. Excellent transport links in to town (number 19 tram from almost outside the door), lo…

Real estate and house-condition update: For those unfamiliar with the Melbourne market, especially inner-CBD and other popular shared-house areas, rents tend to be much, much lower than owners' total costs as property values skyrocket. For older houses, this means that the owners' incentives to maintain a house with a long-term tenant / tenants are very low, especially since the price of Australian labor tends to be on the high end when it comes to home maintenance. We very much agree that, in particular, there is settlement of the foundation resulting in cracks in certain parts of the house since it was given a clean renovation and facelift for sale. There is inconsistent exposure to moisture throughout old houses in this area which sometimes result in damage to the internal facade. In addition, the countertops in the kitchen and bathroom are wooden and have been exposed to heavy use for 2.5-3 years. Alex happened to stay with us during a period when we were, for the first time, not living in and sharing our home with our guests for a period of a few weeks. We have since returned. Nevertheless, we were and are ALWAYS checking in on the house and trying to keep common areas clean and we ALWAYS appreciate your help. Now and during any long term lease-extension negotiations we will always evaluate the costs v. benefits of long term capital and aesthetic improvements against the cost we are able to provide to you. It is not uncommon for very bright working professionals from first world economies to feel every so slightly "gypped" in that our house is not up to the newer standards of properties and the higher levels of property maintenance they are accustomed to in the first world "up over". Here in Australia and especially in the inner-inner-north Melbourne shared house market we believe we provide an exceptionally well-maintained and well-looked after home at very reasonable prices compared to similar properties in the area. If you want to stay with us on a shorter term trial because you have any doubts about the quality of our home or the tender love and care we continue to give to it, please do not hesitate to mention that you'd like a "quality control trial":) [or "QCT":] in your longer-term request and we will send you a "conditional" special offer for a shorter time period of your choosing (e.g. 1 week) accordingly.
