We have a lovely, vintage cottage in New Buffalo. We are located 10 minutes walk from Lake Michigan, 5 minutes walk from downtown shops and restaurants, and on a quiet street. Come enjoy our bit of paradise and unwind in Pure Michigan!
The cottage is fully equipped for your stay with a full kitchen, outdoor seating, linens, towels, and cable wifi.
Pure Michigan is a state of mind in our favorite town. We welcome you to try it out. New Buffalo has long been a retreat for those who live nearby in big cities and it has old haunts that date back to Chicago's Prohibition gangsters and before.
Our particular slice of paradise is a vintage cottage walking distance from the bars and restaurants that make this small town a perfect getaway. The cottage has parts of it that are more than 100 years old. It was initially built as a one room summer getaway and didn't even have indoor plumbing, let alone air conditioning. Thankfully, much has changed! A bathroom and kitchen were added a long time ago. We added the HVAC and fixed up the kitchen. There are now all the modern amenities you'd expect, including WIFI and cable TV! :)
This is an entire house, great for those who like to get away but also want privacy, quiet, and a full kitchen. There are two bedrooms with two queen size beds. Everything will be ready for your arrival with fresh linens and towels at the ready. We hope you get some great relaxation during your stay.
We have a backyard, complete with a gas grill, for quiet time outdoors or socializing around the patio table with a glass of wine. We recommend bringing a great book and unwinding in the sunshine.
You will find a binder on the coffee table with all the pertinent instructions regarding the cottage as well as emergency numbers and local recommendations. Any other questions? Ask! We are a quick message away.
We are excited to welcome to you to Pure Michigan!

Our House Rules are very simple: treat our home as you would your own. Here are a few guidelines.
- Please clean up after yourselves as you would at home. We ask that dishes are washed before you depart. Please bag all garbage and remove before you leave and place recyclables in the bin outside. There are garbage and recycling bins by the front porch for all refuse. Please bring in any outdoor cushions in case of rain.
- Please be respectful and courteous to our neighbors and neighborhood. Keep all noise outside after dark to a courteous level.
- Absolutely no smoking or vaping indoors.
- This is our home, please treat it with the same care and courtesy you'd treat your own home.
In response to some FAQ:
If you are thinking of bringing a pet, please let us know first. Pets must be cleaned up after and we request no pets on the furniture or beds. We suggest a leash while outside because of all the wildlife in the area.
We love kids but the house is not child-proofed for small children and the shower setup is a stand-up stall, not a bath tub. Some guests find it difficult to bathe small children in this arrangement.
Please let us know if you have any other questions!
I am one half of a world-traveling couple. My husband is Jim and we travel as often as we can, speaking and teaching. When we are home in Chicago or staying at our cottage in Michigan, we enjoy dining out, cooking, wine, and concerts. You know, like anyone else. ;)
We stay active a good bit. Jim is a former athlete turned yoga teacher and when I'm not performing, I do love to get my dance workouts in.
We are positive people and enjoy spending time with other like-minded folks. We believe the world is a wonderful place full of people who want to help each other and focus on the similarities between us, not the differences. Air BnB has been a big part of proving that true.
