Ever wanted to sleep in a museum, with antique but very comfortable furniture? You are at the very right place :-)
This place is perfect for groups of good friends, or bigger families. Between the rooms, you don't hear much and anyway not between the floors. You can party downstairs and have somebody sleep upstairs, they won't hear anything.
The beds are comfortable (though soft and antique) and Andrea told us before we traveled which size of sheets we exactly need. At night, it is so quiet that you might wake up and wonder where you are :-)
The bathroom is big and even though there is no shower, you will not miss it, as you have a bath and 2 sinks.
The kitchen is simple, but there is a big fridge and a big dishwasher and a lot of dishes. You will not need to wash the dishes more than once a day. There is also enough hot water.
The sitting room has a table that once opened is really big enough for 9 people without problem.
Because they are even more extra rooms (to play, to read, or meditate), you never feel piled up, but you can always and at any time isolate yourself - not speaking about the beautiful garden - what am I saying, the park :-)
You cannot leave your car in front of the house (except to pack/unpack), but even if you come with 3 or 4 cars, you can park them about 100m below on a public parking place close to the cable car bottom station.
The area is fantastic:
- 10 minutes walk to the beautifull little city of Santa Maria Maggiore with a little supermarket, and a train station
- 25 minutes car drive (or 35min by train) to Domodossola.
- Locarno needs about 1 hour with the car (though only about 30km) because the road is very narrow at places. You can of course take the train too.
The cable car just 100m below drives you up each hour to fantastic mountain walks for all ages and expectations. There is even a place to start for paragliders.
Even though we didn't meet Andrea personally, he was always available within less than an hour, and would organize somebody to come by or phone you back.
All in all, Andrea's house is just a fabulous area in a quiet road with no traffic, where you breathe the fresh air of the mountain even in the hot summer days.
In one sentence: I can only recommend this authentic house.
