Description

This apartment in car free Wengen, offers stunning views to The Jungfrau & Lauterbrunnen Valley from it's front facing balcony. Located on the 3rd floor of a former hotel next to the railway station. Suitable for 4 guests (max) & offers lift access & a buzzer entry system. Open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area incl double sofa bed & access to bathroom. Wifi & Cable TV. The bedroom has 2 single beds & with en suite shower, there is a 2nd balcony overlooking the village, towards the Maennlichen.

This great central flat offers flexible accommodation for upto 4 adults, a perfect location for your winter or summer getaway! In winter you can ski, snow permitting into the village and in summer you are ready to go from the front door. With two balconies, one of which overlooks to the Jungfrau and Lauterbrunnen valley, whilst the other toward Männlichen you have some of the most desirable vistas in Wengen. Centrally located within the former Eiger Hotel, less than 50m from the railway station and local shops. There is both lift & stair access to the apartment, it is secured by an external buzzer entry door system and an internal keycode door. There are 2 rooms with an entry hall between, master bedroom with an en suite shower room and an open plan lounge/galley style kitchen/dining area, within this space is a double pull out sofa bed and access to the bathroom which has an over bath shower. It offers Cable TV and WiFi throughout. There is access to a washing machine and separate tumble dryer located on the same floor. On the ground floor there is lockable storage within the ski room.

There are both lift and stair access leading to the apartment. A ski room is located on the ground floor and there is also access to a washroom on the same floor which has both a washing machine and tumble dryer.

Shopping & Eating: We have a Coop supermarket for all essentials, a smaller local supermaket called Dorflade (see note below), a bakery, a dairy shop, a jewellers, a craft shop, a photo shop & several sports shops. There is a Post Office & a couple of banks, both with ATM's. There are several bars & restaurants throughout the village.
Note: The DORFLADE have most food items & make home deliveries free of charge if you purchase more than CHF 50

Smoking: Please do not smoke inside or out.

Garbage/Trash: Please ensure ALL trash is removed from the apartment before you leave. PET bottles can be recycled at the Coop, cardboard & glass at the recycling centre adjacent to the railway station. Everything else need to be thrown out using a GREY or WHITE tax bag, these can be purchased at the Coop, you need to ask for them at the counter. The closest place to leave your trash is right next to the railway bridge, as you are heading downhill past The Coop, it is on the left hand side before you go under the bridge.

Bedding, Towels: Please strip the bedding, duvet cover, pillowcases, sheets etc and leave all items to be washed in the bath.

Cleaning Materials: All are housed in the hallway cupboard along with a vacuum cleaner.

Washing Machine & Tumble Dryer: please do not use this overnight as it will disturb other guests. Please do not leave any items in the machines as this is a communal facility.

Wengen is a small mountain car free village located in the Berner Oberland which can only be accessed via rail. It is situated on a sunny plateau, offering breathtaking views toward the Jungfrau and Lauterbrunnen valley. With easy access to ski areas, hiking trails and nature, the village itself offers local shopping including a couple of small supermarkets, sports shops, Swiss souvenirs and an exceptional cheese shop which sells an excellent array of local produce. A key excursion includes the railway trip to the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe whilst there is easy access to Mürren, Männlichen, Lauterbrunnen, Schilthorn including the 007 Exhibition with revolving restaurant, Interlaken, Lake Thun and Brienz. The Lauberhorn Races are held in January and the Jungfrau Marathon at the beginning of September are only two of the top events held in Wengen.

Access to Wengen is only via rail. There is no road to the village only a hiking trail. If you travel by car, this must be left in Lauterbrunnen (at your own cost). During high season is it advisable to book this in advance. Rail links work well and offer panoramic rides to and from all airports, approx transfer times are Zurich (3h15), Basel (3h20), Geneva (4h15), Bern (2h20). It should be noted that a short bus journey is required at both Basel and Bern airports.

The main entry door is automatically locked after 7pm each evening, so please do not forget to take your keys!
The internal keypad door giving access to the apartments and ski room is always closed and a keycode is required for access.

Maximum 4 guests. A baby and/or infant counts as a guest. A fee of 50 CHF will be applicable for the use of a baby bed, with associated bedding and linen.
No outdoor, ski/snowboard boots are allowed in the apartment. All equipment must be placed into the ski room lcated on the ground floor.
No smoking in the apartment.
Please do not overload the lift with overly heavy equipment/luggage.
As per Swiss convention, noise should be kept at a minimum between 22.30 and 07.30.

Kathleen was great. She welcomed us off the train and walked us through everything. She was very open to helping and great at responding to any questions that came up on the trip. The apartment was very clean and taken care of. It had a spectacular view of the valley and mountains below. I would recommend it.

Just to say we had a brilliant time at Spectacular View Apartment, Wengen. Apartment is perfectly located for everything - Train stop & nearby Coop and shopping area, as well as so many restaurants and cafes. We enjoyed exploring and coming back to the apartment - the balcony is big enough with a stunning view to enjoy all the time, the bed is REALLY comfortable, although in a central location the apartment is quiet, it's also spacious and clean. The Apt had internet access and everything needed for a family. It really felt like home! The name is just perfect..."Spectacular View". I wish to come back again in future..Thanks Kathleen..

Kathleen was a brilliant host, met us exactly at the train station to take us to the flat. The flat has an amazing view and outside space that overlooks the train station and the Coop supermarket. Despite it being so close it's also very quiet and extremely convenient for trains and hiking. The flat contains everything you need for cooking, cleaning, cooking oil, tea bags, etc. The building has a washing machine in the basement. Kathleen gave us great tips on hiking trails for our son, opinions on the peaks, and helped to make the stay very enjoyable.

Awesome! Incredible! Will return for sure! It was quiet, convenient, and very clean. This place would be good for families. Great hikes right outside the door. Our favorite was Mänlichen to Kleine Scheidegg to the front door.
