Randy's studio was the perfect location for home base for a week in PVR. Located conveniently in a residential part of the downtown area, it's close to many shops, restaurants, nightlife and the bus terminals that take you to other parts of Vallarta. Though not beachside, it's just a 4-5 block walk down Basilio Badillo to get to Los Muertos beach and the Olas Altas area.
Be forewarned, there are lots of stairs to climb to get to the studio on the 4th floor and there is no elevator. It's not a bad climb, though it may be a challenge to those with mobility issues or large pieces of luggage.
The studio itself is very spacious with lots of natural sunlight. No A/C, though you just turn on the ceiling fans or open the large windows and door cutouts and you get a cool breeze blowing through the studio. As others have said, one of the best part of my day was waking up naturally with the sun coming in through the windows and looking out onto the Vallarta hillside.
There is plenty of armoire storage, internet TV, a mini safe and a dining table. The kitchen/bathroom combo (I know, it sounds weird) works to utilize the space efficiently. There isn't a full stove in the kitchen, but a microwave oven is provided and a good sized refrigerator. I believe if you wanted to cook meals, you can use the outdoor grill, which is located by the pool and sundeck on the same floor.
Randy’s assistant, Dale, greeted me upon arrival and was very friendly and gracious showing me around the studio and building. He offered advice re: Vallarta and the surrounding neighborhood. He was unintrusive for the duration of my stay. Though, if needed, was very accessible as he lives right above the studio
For the value and location, I would highly recommend Randy's studio for your stay in Vallarta.
