Description

Le logement

ABOUT THE BEDROOMS

3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms in a three-story townhouse. Two bedrooms on the top floor (one with queen bed and futon and one with twin bed). Bedroom suite on the first floor with private bathroom. There is also a spare twin mattress that can be put on the floor anywhere.

ABOUT THE REST OF THE HOUSE

The middle floor of the house includes a beautiful modern kitchen with breakfast bar, combined living room/dining room, and a beautifully finished wood deck with table and chairs (again, all completely furnished). There is also a beautiful private garden/yard in the back (i.e. fully enclosed with tasteful wooden picket fence that prevents others from seeing in). There are also two bike hangers on the fence in the yard. The middle floor also houses the washer and dryer.

ABOUT THE COMMON AREAS

On the second (main) floor, there is a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, living area, and private deck/yard. There is also a small laundry room that guests are welcome to use in between the first and second floors.

PARKING:

There is mixed parking on my street and in the entire neighborhood. Some parts of each side of the street are permit-only and some parts are public (and free). Guests need to read the signs carefully to ensure that they are in a public spot. If guests need help, and I am not home when they arrive, passersby are normally great about helping. I have only had one reservation that had to park on an adjacent street; and this occurred during a time when there was a lot of construction in the neighborhood that resulted in entire sections of residential streets being temporarily blocked off. This led to permit holders temporarily occupying public spaces. If this is ever the case again, I will be sure to inform guests before accepting their reservation.

Le quartier

The house is located on a lovely, quiet residential street with renovated historic townhouses and just one block from the Prince Arthur pedestrian-only, tree-lined cobblestone street, full of quaint cafés and bistros sure to satisfy any palate! (website hidden) "Prince Arthur Montreal" to read about it!

Below is a description of the neighborhood taken from the Tourisme Montreal website.

"For many travelers who reminisce about their trip to Montréal, memories of tree lined streets, spiral staircases and colorful houses begin to surface. There is no neighborhood more synonymous with these images than ‘The Plateau.’

The Plateau is the Greenwich Village of Montréal. With the highest concentration of artists in any Canadian district, the bohemian aura of this neighborhood is visually palpable: stunning urban art, relaxed café terraces and fashionably clad individuals.

It consistently ranks among the hippest neighborhoods in North America. Why? Because here art meets nightlife. Because older Portuguese woman share the sidewalk with uber-chic, young indie musicians. Because you can have $5 empanadas for lunch and then haute cuisine at a French bistro for dinner. Because the vintage clothing boutiques and used record shops inspire new looks and sounds that continue to resonate when travelers return home.

Plateau Mont-Royal is edgy urban vitality."

Transports

Very close to several metro stations (Sherbrooke and Mont Royal) and bus lines. Many major sites/tourist attractions are just a short walk away from the house.

Pauley was a great host throughout our entire experience, starting from booking, all the way to our actual stay. The space itself was clean and spacious, yet cozy, and was situated in an awesome central area with everything a short walk away. The only bump in the road was finding parking when we arrived later on a Friday evening so be mindful and try to arrive earlier on Fridays but with the help of Pauley's phone instructions and passersby, we eventually figured it out. Overall a GREAT value for the price! I'd recommend this Airbnb to everyone. Thanks, Pauley!

We had a great stay at Pauley's. We were 4 travelers so we appreciated the extra space and the extra bathroom. All the beds were very comfortable. Great neighborhood, excellent for walking around. No problems checking in, Pauley left us very clear instructions and responded to questions quickly. The only thing I would mention, and this isn't a criticism of the space per say because everything was exactly as advertised, so much as a heads up for other travelers to make their stays as smooth as possible. Parking: As the description mentioned, it is street parking. We we arrived on a Friday evening it took us around 30 minutes of circling the neighborhood and ended up parking roughly 1 km away. That being said, the parking was free, and we didn't have to move our car all weekend. But it is something to be aware of if you plan on driving. Media: No problem with wifi but there is no tv or speakers in the home. If you are like us and enjoy playing music while hanging out before going out for the day/night, you will want to plan ahead and bring your own speakers/music playing devices. Like I said, not criticisms of the place, which was great, more like a general FYI.

Réponse de Pauley :
Thank you, Emily, for the feedback! For other guests who may read this, parking is particularly challenging when arriving on a Friday or Saturday evening, as the house is located right in the heart of the nightlife district. As such, the public parking spots on the streets in the neighborhood are often taken at these prime going out times. As such, if guests with cars who plan to arrive on a Friday or Saturday can arrive by early evening, parking will be much easier to find. I have no cable or satellite service, but guests can use my new high resolution large monitor and an HDMI cable to hook up a laptop.

We had a wonderful stay in Pauley's home! Leading up to our visit Pauley was so helpful and provided all necessary details on top of being very responsive to all questions. Her home was modern, comfortable and central, making it easy to get around the city. We would definitely recommend Pauley's place for anyone looking for a cozy and clean home for their stay! She's a wonderful host and her home is lovely.

Hi!

My name is Pauley; and I have recently moved to Montreal to start my PhD. I applied to a PhD program in Montreal, because I love the city so much! As luck has it, the program in Montreal was the best program for my professional interests, so here I am!

I absolutely love the home where I live and am excited to help AirBnBers discover all that this wonderful city – and especially Le Plateau – has to offer. In fact, I decided to rent a three-story home to enable me to do just that! I am often out of town conducting fieldwork, during which time I rent out the entire home.

Anyone who rents from me can know that they are helping to fund my studies, which are focused on improving the health of vulnerable populations in low-income countries. Staying at my home is thus also a socially responsible thing to do! :-)

I have lived, worked, and/or studied in five different continents and greatly enjoy meeting people from different parts of the world. If I am also staying in the house and my renter(s) so desire, I will be delighted to show them around the neighborhood. Likewise, should my renter(s) prefer not to interact with me during their stay, that is also completely acceptable and will be respected 100%.
