We arrived late because of flight delays and after a long climb up stairs we went through a gate and I felt as if we were descending into a subterranean cave! However the next morning we woke to sunshine! The Windows all face south and look out onto a lovely garden with a view of the cathedral dome. We could not have managed our suitcases in or out of the unit without Luis assistance. If you have any mobility issues you may want to reconsider this place. Luis was very responsive to issues even coming in from out of town late to replace a burnt out light bulb at the bottom of the stairs. The suite was very comfortable. Bed was firm and surprisingly king size. Helpful hints: put your towels over the balcony rail to dry during the day as the bathroom is not well ventilated, if you want water to boil on the burner turn the overhead fan off. Comfortable quiet private place. We enjoyed it.
This studio apartment is well-located near the Malecon, and up a set of very pretty stairs, just past Gaby's Restaurant. Overall, our stay was ok. We booked a bit last minute, so our lodging options were limited. We also visited during the end of December - high season, so everything was much more expensive than other times of the year. I would recommend this apartment for travelers looking for budget accommodations, or maybe if your stay is only a couple of days. I would not recommend this apartment as a romantic getaway. Pros: - Central location near the Malecon. - Pretty stairs lined with trees leading up to the apartment. - Good wifi. - Luis was communicative during our stay. He was on time to meet us for check-in. - We felt safe in the apartment and in the neighborhood in general. - Felt private, even though there is an apartment with a balcony close by. - Nice fountain outside the apartment. Cons: - Mildew smell in the apartment. Running the AC helps. - Not enough towels provided (maybe bring your own). We brought our own beach towels, but still found we would have liked cleaner and also more towels. - Finicky toilet that scared us a few times when it wouldn't flush.
The apartment is beautiful, and just as described. It has all the conveniences you could ask for in a modern home, in addition to the charm of its authentic surroundings in a quiet old neighbourhood very near central PV. The AC worked perfect, there was lots of hot water, the kitchen is well equipped, filtered water is provided, and there were lots of free channels (including movies) on the tv. A few other reviews mention a privacy problem (the unit shares a lovely courtyard with another apartment) - we solved this by putting a towel over the window on the door. Otherwise everything was totally fine. If you're considering a stay in PV but are concerned about security/safety, don't be. This apartment is located between a few churches (which do not ring bells all night, despite other reviews' comments) in a residential area, just east of the bustling Malecon beach region. We walked around night and day and felt completely safe. I even recommend using the local buses to get around, as they are safe, cheap and reliable (if a little daunting to figure out at first) - just ask a local and they'll sort you out.
Pros: The appartment is perfectly located, just two blocks from the waterfront (el malecón). The space is good for a couple and it is well equiped (ac, fan, kitchen utencils, tv, etc.). The bathroom was well equiped too (although there was no shapoo, so bring your own). Luis was very responsive and accomodating. We had a misunderstanding regarding missing blankets one day, but he quickly fixed it when we solved the confusion. Cons: The church of Guadalupe, two blocks away from the appartment, rings its bells every 15 minutes. If you are a light sleeper you better bring earplugs. This is an interior appartment, meaning that it just faces an interior patio with no view. The front door has no curtain, which affects privacy, as guests of other appartments can look inside this one. The bed was just okay enough. In general we felt the appartment was overpriced, but it is true that this was year end, and there was a high demand.
