Renzo was not there, but the staff was phenomenal! Always available when we needed anything, very helpful with getting safe taxis and booking tours, and let me use the phone a couple of times. Edwin, who worked the front desk, was so sweet and went out of his way to make sure the wifi, hot water, and the heater in our bedroom were always working for us. His English isn't awesome but he's working on it. I'd definitely suggest knowing some basic phrases in Spanish to improve your stay. The views were breathtaking. Breakfast was lovely. Just a short drive (10-15 min) into Puno and to the port. I'd would absolutely recommend staying here!!
My boyfriend and I had a lovely time here. The view is spectacular. Our room was large and spacious. The food is not the best we've had but it was food, don't expect luxury. If you want a quiet lake side escape and cannot afford the ridiculously expensive hotels we would suggest this any day. It is definitely worth it. The staff are lovely and will do anything for you. We got collected from the bus station for 25 Sol, this was all arranged for us at rather late notice which was great. The location was exactly what we wanted for a couple of quiet days on our rather hectic holiday.
Bad experience for me and my family, we choose this place because of the pictures and the comforting suite they have... it was our first time in Puno... thinking about the great days we're going to spend there in this suppose to be a great hotel... well the truth facing up badly when we just arrive to the HOSTAL (beacuse it wasn't at hotel at all) first of all the unfinished homes or just abandoned places in front of the place looks very creepy... then the hostal sign and the front of the building it was glued to the wall with cardboard and scotch!!!! then when we decided to enter the place to give a second chance.... well nothing gets better... the people at the place give as the PRESIDENCIAL SUITE!!! well again... awful the "wall" it was a trypal!!!!! when you closing the door the whole "wall" moves... the beds looking more like a bunk... the lavatory it was out of the bathroom because it was to small to the inside!!! sooo i can continue describing all the place, but it will be the same... this is a place running by a family and i can't speak bad about the people who works there because they are just employees... and they understand my totally disagree and discomfort just looking at my face... so they wait for me and my family to find another place at night because there was no chance for me to spend a night there... we find another place a way better for the same price and believe me when i said a WAYYYY BETTER!!!!! i do not recommend this place to my friends and to anybody... the name of the place is the "YATCH" and the owner must put the name of his place in the ad so the future traveler's can find the bad reviews in other webs... the only good part of these bad experience it was the owner agreed to refund my reserve...
This is a good hotel to stay in if you want to stay on the lake outside of Puno. Be prepared that it will cost you an extra 20 soles to get there from Puno. They were very helpful in organising a private taxi to pick us up from the bus terminal. There is literally nothing else commercial around there which has it's pros and cons. Eg. Lovely view of the lake, nice and quiet but you will need to eat in the restaurant there or pay to go back into Puno. It has a basic typical Peruvian menu and we found the food adequate but overpriced for what we could get as an equivalent in Puno. The owner was very kind in helping us organise a tour even though with their non-preferred company and very helpful again when this company forgot to pick us up and muddled our payment! We were very lucky to have his help! Shower was good and fairly hot, room clean but cold at night though warm bed and comfortable. Wifi didn't always work in our room but good in common area. Tea available all day which was really nice, ok breakfast (available early for those going to the lake early) and friendly staff.
