This is a gem in Yantis ! We had a staycation, 2 nights, and took our youngest, who is four years old. Our drive to the property was pleasant, and instructions to get there were easy to understand. However, I can see the local roads being intimidating if not familiar with East Texas. Chuck's and Nancy's house was very nice, just as described. When we arrived, they let us choose which room to use. We chose the upstairs bedroom, which was a little larger, plus it had a child sized bed and chairs. They also kindly offered their downstairs bathroom, which we did use. Chuck and Nancy were very friendly, shared many stories with us, and were like grandparents to our youngest child. We thoroughly enjoyed their farm - the chickens, the pigs, the pond to fish, the cows, all on site. We were thrilled to get to feed the chickens and pigs multiple times. Chuck kindly took us on a local tour to see donkeys, goats, eagle's nest, turkeys and more cows ! Their dog Woodreaux kept company to our youngest, so precious ! We ate lunch at Oak Ridge Cafe, food was decent. For dinner, we took out a pizza from Two Brothers Pizza which we enjoyed thoroughly. Breakfast consisted of farm fresh eggs, fruit and sliced-bread (muffin for the second day). We specially loved the cup eggs; the egg cracker was such a neat tool, so much so that we bought the same item the same day we got back to Plano. Lake Fork area is very nice and picturesque and famous for fishing, which we didn't know. The added bonus was star gazing at night ! One of the things we like to do when we go to East Texas is purchasing home made/local produce, so on the way back home we got some juicy tomato and freshly picked okra, which we enjoyed within 24 hours. Thank you, Chuck and Nancy, for a memorable experience right here in Texas !
