The photos and description of this place are overly generous. Part of the house (one bedroom/ensuite and both sitting rooms) are lovely, albeit with a strong smell of cats in the communal areas and other bedrooms. The other bedrooms/kitchen/bathroom are in need of renovation and the fourth bedroom listed is a communal sitting area that cannot be entirely shut off from the rest of the house. It has a beautiful exterior, one bedroom is lovely, and the location is great - it just wasn't up to the standard we typically see for the business trips we're taking or the price charged. Would not stay again.

Thomas's place is in a great area, central to superb cafe's and restaurants. The farmers market was outstanding. The house is spacious and like Thomas says, not spick and spam but homely.

We, especially our kids, loved the time in Thomas's house which has the authentic charm of the old country house of your grandma. Indeed, things are not brand new and the house is really fitted for one family only as really only one bathroom is usable (the master bathroom is really neat, agreeable and full of light). But the house is super homey, a paradise for kids with toys outdoor, and carpets and rugs everywhere for young kids to run safely. The location is really incredible, in the center of Perth, 30 secondes distance from nice and cool coffee shops with terrace, and walking distance from markets and Kings Park. Thomas is incredibly helpful and reactive and helped us with additional house cleaning as I wanted some daily tidy up. My kids who are 4,5 yo, 3 yo and 1yo and are totally into Knights and Fortified Castles definitively loved their castle Subiaco and somewhere that perfectly summarizes it...

Great location, convenient to all the best parts of Subiaco. Main bedroom and bathroom beautiful, rest of house a little dated.

I did not get to meet Thomas but he was very quick to reply and easy to book/communicate with. Check in and out was simple and flexible. The house is lovely, grand and comfortable with lots of space and sleeping options. The two smaller bedrooms are fully set up children's rooms which I did not know about but for this particular stay that didn't matter so much. the location is perfect for anyone wanting to walk into and explore Subiaco. The house is right in the heart of everything but still lovely, quiet and private. Thankyou.

I'm an international business speaker, author and consultant. I travel a lot so I know the value of a comfortable stay and local knowledge. I've lived in Subiaco for more than 20 years so I know all the secret spots the locals love. Everything from coffee at Boucla, a drink at Juanita's or a picnic in Kings Park are all just two minutes walk away. I love meeting people and my personal library is very extensive. I love renovating old houses and have a passion for conserving Perth's heritage.

“I won’t promise you spick and span and sparkly,” says Thomas of the distinctive stay.

“What I will promise you is an experience like no other—to recharge and revitalize your soul in an authentic 100-year old heritage gentleman's mansion!"
