This modern surf and beach house in Pleasure Point is 400' from the best surfing in northern California! Enjoy the four different patio / deck spaces and open floor plan that comfortably hosts eight. Perfect for families, corporate retreats, surfers.
Called the "Epitome of Modern Beach House" by major online design magazine MyDomaine. We are 9 time consecutive Superhosts — we strive to set the bar.
Design lovers, families, and surfers, welcome home! Each piece of furniture in this house was curated to be not only beautiful but also functional and comfortable. You'll love the modern, open design and how it's just a two minute walk from Pleasure Point. Surf the world famous waves at The Hook, and then relax a few minutes later back at home.
This amazing 1,680 sq ft home includes 3 bedrooms (+loft with sleeper sofa), 2 full baths, soaring ceilings in the living room, a roof deck with ocean and mountain view, a front deck for people watching and dining, and a side deck for grilling.
Each bedroom has a queen sized bed or sleeper sofa, premium sheets, unique art, and easy-to-reach lighting. The full bathrooms on each floor are clean and modern with shower tubs, good water pressure, and plenty of space to hang towels. (Note that the sleeper sofa in the 3rd bedroom is queen-size length, but full-size width.)
The kitchen features a large fridge, whisper-quiet dishwasher, gas range, and plenty of room for food prep or entertaining on the custom poured concrete countertops (please only use cutting boards -- knives will permanently damage the concrete counters). Help yourself to the various teas, sauces, and condiments that we keep in stock. Prepare any of your favorite meals with the very well stocked equipment including sharp knives, pots, pans, cups, utensils, garlic press, coffee grinder, french press, Mr Coffee, single cup coffee pour, toaster, gas oven, microwave, rice cooker, Belgian waffle maker, and commercial grade food processor. The propane bbq grill is also conveniently located on the deck right off the kitchen.
The downstairs far bedroom has French doors that swing out to the back patio. The patio is privately fenced and has a propane fire pit and hammock with plenty of seating for relaxing at night or day. Beautiful succulents and a young lemon tree complete the landscaping.
There is high speed Internet with upgraded Eero wifi throughout the whole house, a Nest thermostat, a LCD HD television and a Sonos music player. You can control the thermostat using your voice through the Alexa Dot in the kitchen: "Alexa, please set the temperature in the home to 68 degrees". Use the Roku player to watch Netflix, Hulu (upgraded with no commercials and Showtime), HBO Now, and Amazon Prime -- or download the app and control the TV from your phone. The Sonos device can be controlled by downloading the Sonos mobile app on wifi where you can listen to Spotify Premium but please keep the volume down to not disturb the neighbors. The TV also has a RetroPie on HDMI2 with about 80 Nintendo and Super Nintendo games. Two controllers are connected so you can play Mario Kart. There is also an OTA antenna for watching sportsball games.
Digital keypad entry at the front and side doors means you don't have to worry about taking keys with you to the surf or when you leave the house. We will contact you a few days before your arrival with your custom key code that we make easy for you to remember. The washer and dryer area includes detergent, extra bath and beach towels, and sheets. There's a hose with sprayer on the left side of the property that can be used to clean off wetsuits and surfboards. Right next to the hose are hooks to hang and dry your wetsuits or towels. An 8'2 foam Wavestorm and a 9'2 foam Gnaraloo are available for you to borrow (note, sometimes these are on the other side of the house). The Gnaraloo has a built in Go-Pro mount if you want to capture some videos.
For corporate retreat customers, there is also a printer and scanner available for your use. The Wifi is lightning fast and tested throughout the house. Our home was seen on national TV during Shark Tank Episode 28 where it was used by a corporate customer for their filming.
The property has a small covered carport for one car and can fit up to four cars if packed tightly. The Pleasure Point area is permit parking only during the peak season from April to Labor Day.
There is a 40A Tesla High Power Wall Charger in the carport closet and a 110V port in the carport. Our property is a Tesla Certified AirBNB Destination and the wall charger was courtesy of Tesla Motors.
Our home is an officially permitted Santa Cruz Vacation Rental and Live Oaks Vacation Rental. We are proud to remit a portion of your payment to Santa Cruz for taxes to help maintain our beautiful city. For your security and safety, our properties are equipped with external security cameras in the front and back. These cameras are not monitored actively and only reviewed in case of reported incidences. There are no cameras inside of the house.

Accès des voyageurs
Everything detailed in the description is available for guests. The front storage room is locked separately and not to be accessed by guests. The owners keep their private belongings and storage there.
For early or late check in, please contact us ahead of time. We can often accommodate your request.
We require a 2-3 night minimum depending on the time of year.
Mature guests only and absolutely no partying. Families are welcome.
Thank you for respecting our home, yard, and furnishings. Please no pets, no smoking, no parties, no indoor fireplace usage, and no fireworks.
Our vacation permit limits the max occupancy to 8 people overnight with no exceptions. Please do not sleep anyone on the couch.
Santa Cruz has very strict noise ordinances. Absolutely no loud music or sound anywhere on the property after 10pm and please keep conversations in the backyard, roof top, and side deck as quiet as possible to be respectful of our neighbors. Our neighbors are extremely sensitive to noise after 10pm -- please be warned of waking the dragons! They will bite!
The Live Oaks / Pleasure Point region has very strict parking during the peak season. If you plan to need more than 3 or 4 parking spots, please contact us in advance so that we can arrange for you to borrow our guest passes. They must be returned so our other customers can use them and we will require a deposit.
Please keep surfboards, wetsuits, and booties outside on the left (north) side of the house. Do not place anything with saltwater on the concrete floors and patio- it will stain.
Please wipe the concrete kitchen countertops immediately after use. These will also stain if any liquids are left overnight. Do not use knives directly on the countertops (there's many cutting boards) as it will damage the sealant.
Please do not wear shoes in the house except for the entry way and mud room. We provide flip flops in a variety of sizes for your use.
California is in a severe drought- please be mindful of water use. Please conserve as much water as possible by shutting off the water when not immediately required.
Kids are welcome! Our place is safe for young kids but a watchful eye must be kept for the back patio fire pit and hammock.
If any of these house rules are broken, then we reserve the right to evict as necessary. Breaking the rules of our vacation rental permit can result in fines from the City of Santa Cruz and the tenant will be responsible for paying them if they are at fault.
I'll be available by phone or email to answer any questions you may have.
We personally design and love our homes, but we don't always get to use them. We hope we can open our homes to you and share the experience.
We love art, architecture, surfing, and hiking and typically spend time in San Francisco, Santa Cruz, New York City, and Tokyo.
