Colorful & cozy upstairs apartment in old North Portland farmhouse! Friendly neighbors, walkable neighborhood. Private entrance, 1 large bedroom + 1 sitting room or 2nd bedroom, separate kitchen, bath & wifi! Great base for NW sightseeing, hiking, biking, work, cafes & micro brews! We welcome all people and celebrate diversity, love and peace!
Our 2 story farmhouse was originally built in 1900! It's shaded by a beautiful giant cedar tree and surrounded on 3 sides by a big yard, with gardens, flowers and berries in the summer! A separate entrance leads up to the upstairs "flat" which has an eclectic collection of art, one main bedroom and 1 additional room for reading, looking at maps, watching a TV or an extra bedroom. If you are traveling with kids, we now have 1 children's mattress, (with comforter and linens of course), a Pack 'n Play for babies, a children's dining chair as well as booster seat for use in the kitchen, toys and other toddler furniture. The kitchen is well furnished with most appliances you will need plus I usually leave some food, beverages and a few treats to welcome you. The bathroom is spacious and we supply a few essentials like shampoo, body wash and epsom salts for a relaxing bath! The sitting room/occasional bedroom has books, 2 comfortable chairs and an ottoman/table for planning your adventures or just having a cup of coffee or tea. If the space is needed as a bedroom, we have a queen sized air bed which easily sets up and there is still room for sitting..
My husband, Nolan and I, live downstairs with our 2 small parrots. We are slowly beginning to remodel the downstairs now and hope to get it looking as nice as the upstairs in a year or two! I am often around the house so feel free to knock on the door, text or call me and say hello or ask me (or Nolan) any questions you have..We are glad to be of help!
Accès des voyageurs
I will meet you when you first arrive to give you the keys, introduce myself and give you a quick tour of the place. Your entrance is the 2nd door to the right across the front porch. Once in, the stairwell leads to the upstairs apartment. You can also visit and use the back yard if you wish and even pick some fresh lettuce or berries (in season) from the garden, though it's a little more inviting in warm weather..you can get to the back yard by going around the South side near the garage/studio. If you need a place to store and park your bikes or sporting equipment, you can use our garage! We'll give you a key to use while you are here.

We love meeting fellow travelers and sharing an occasional meal, a beer or glass of wine! We are in the backyard a lot during the warm weather and tend to eat meals out there whenever possible. Please feel free to say hi or let us know if you'd like to hang out! We love talking to people and sharing stories, but you won't see us much unless you have a question or a need in which case, we are happy to be of service! Nolan works full time in downtown Portland and Mary is an artist and the main Airbnb host! Let her know if you want to do some drawing, painting or collaging together! Our front porch, backyard and garden are all great places to relax in the summer so feel free to enjoy them!
If you decide to do any cooking, please open the kitchen window for ventillation. Feel free to say hello to any neighbors you see! Our neighbors have been really cool about our Airbnb apartment and we want to continue creating good vibrations with the wonderful neighbors we live next to! 15-163916-000-00-HO

Originally from Southern California, I've lived in the Pacific Northwest since I was 8 years old. I studied art at Portland State University in the 1980s and am now returning to my roots as an artist. Nolan is a Portland native who works for an arts organization here (where we met in 1988) He loves photography, film and movies which he studied in high school and college, feeding and watching the backyard birds, going camping in Eastern Oregon when he gets time and reading or listening to audio books! Nolan and I love to travel and enjoy learning about the world! We love being Airbnb hosts, sharing our home with friends and fellow travelers, cooking, improving our house and garden, going hiking or biking, making art and taking photos, going to art galleries and events and just enjoying life! Portland and the Pacific Northwest is our home and we'd love to help you make the most of your visit here if you choose to stay with us!
