Private and full of natural light. Top floor apartment in a limestone house, rich with old world details on a quiet block in historic Brooklyn. Tastefully decorated in an eclectic style with a nod to vintage aesthetics and modern comforts.
Perfect for a small family, couple, or traveling with friends. This is your opportunity to have the best of both worlds: experience the real Brooklyn, with easy access to the hippest parts of Manhattan.
The apartment is a private, self-contained floor-through apartment on the second floor of our limestone row house. We live on the bottom floors and enter the house through a separate entrance.
We are a few blocks away from the Gates Ave. stop on the J/Z subway line. It's about a 30-35 minute subway ride to anywhere in downtown Manhattan via an elevated, photogenic train track that will take you across the Williamsburg Bridge. The A/C line is about a 10 minute walk from the house - also a useful line that accesses many parts of Manhattan.
Our house is rich with history and old-world details. It is located in Stuyvesant Heights (also known as Bedford Stuyvesant, or Bed Stuy), a picturesque and historic Brooklyn neighborhood. We are located on a quiet street and one of three homes on the block originally built for Franciscan Friars, whose beautiful 19th Century church is still in use just a few doors down.
You will have the entire second floor to your self. Sunny and spacious, it has a well-equipped kitchen with modern appliances, coffee maker, silverware, plates, pots and pans, toaster, etc. There are complimentary tea, coffee, and water in the fridge for your enjoyment.
Some other amenities include: towels, basic toiletries, coffeemakers (American, French-press, and Italian espresso), clothes hangers, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, two electric fans, and one electric space heater.
You will have a private bathroom and 4 rooms: living room, dining room, bedroom 1, and bedroom 2. Each room has doors and can either be closed off into its own private space, or joined with other rooms to form a single, spacious loft-like living space.
THE LIVING ROOM faces the street side of the house. It has a full-sized modernist Italian white leather futon that easily converts into a comfortable bed, which appears to be slightly narrower than a full size bed, but should accommodate 2 people with no problem. This room features a gorgeous antique mantel complete with mirror and multicolored tiles. The two windows give plenty of natural light during the day.
THE DINING ROOM is as seen in photos, and situated between the living room and bedroom 1. It has pocket doors with beautiful art nouveau etched glass windows.
BEDROOM 1 faces the garden side of the house. It features a comfortable full-sized bed, full-length mirror, a chest of drawers, ample closet space, and a desk. The two windows give the room plenty of natural light during the day.
BEDROOM 2 is a small bedroom facing the street side of the house on a quiet block. It features a comfortable full-sized bed, but doesn't have much room for anything else. Guests staying in this room can use the closet in the dining room for storing their luggage and clothes.
You have the option of putting up a comfortable high-end full-size air mattress in the living room or dining room. Air mattress available upon request.
Accès des voyageurs
Guests will have access to a private, self-contained apartment on the second floor. One flight of stairs outside the house, then one flight of stairs inside the house, so two flights of stairs total. Unfortunately, the apartment is not handicap accessible.
We live on the bottom floors downstairs and enter the house through a separate entrance.
We have FREE PUBLIC STREET PARKING on our block. We do NOT have a private reserved parking spot. Unlike a lot of places in NYC, it's generally not hard to find a parking spot in front of or near our house.

We are educated and courteous hosts who love our neighborhood and are eager to share it with you. Yuan is an attorney who works with a law firm in midtown, and speaks Mandarin. 我会说中文! Kevin is an antique dealer, long-time New Yorker, and will be home (unless he is traveling) most of the day. We enjoy travel, literature, the theater, improv, Argentine tango, great restaurants, fine cocktails and liquor, and of course, Brooklyn! Don't hesitate to ask for advice.
We live on the bottom floors and enter the house through a separate entrance. We have a small dog. But she will stay with us at all times on our floors and not bother you.
We love traveling ourselves and always look forward to meeting kindred spirits from shores near and far, and sharing with them our wonderful neighborhood and home. At least one of us is generally available to answer your questions, provide directions, give recommendations, or just have a glass of wine together. We care about our guests and always welcome the opportunity to get to know them personally, but at the same time respect their privacy. So how much you want to interact with and get to know us is completely up to you.
We are eager to share our home with you. In return, we would appreciate it if you share with us some basic information about yourself when contacting us for the first time. For example, a brief introduction of yourself and any guests who will be staying with you, the purpose of your trip, etc. This would not only give us a better sense of who we are welcoming to our home, but also help us better anticipate your needs when preparing for your arrival.
