Hale Aloha Aina (House of the Loving Land) is the perfect hideaway for couples seeking a remote destination that inspires intimacy and adventure.

~ This romantic Hawaiian cottage is nestled on eight acres of lush tropical with no other homes in sight! flora, fruit trees and three acres of meandering paths with manicured lawns. It is truly the ultimate escape to let your imagination run wild!

~ The cottage is beautifully furnished with a fully equipped kitchen, spacious bathroom with tub/shower, outside shower, washer/dryer, Free Wi-Fi, free long distance US calling, bicycles, snorkel gear and many extras for your vacationing needs.

~This home is totally self-sufficient with solar power and gas appliances for sustainable green living. Private community water source provides the purest water on tap.

~ Wood Valley is a hidden treasure on the southeast side of the Big Island, which is the least populated area in the district of Kau, internationally famous for their award winning coffee.

~Preserved for generations to come, much of the Kau coastline remains untouched and known as one of Hawaii's last frontiers. Volcanoes National Park, exotic black and green sand beaches, historic sugar town, macadamia nut farms and coffee plantations are 20 minutes drive from the cottage. It is he perfect destination to explore the east and south west side of the island.

~ Comfortable mountain climate at 2500 elevation lends to low humidity with cooler nights so there is no air conditioning. A gas fireplace will keep you cozy in the winter months. The coqui frogs have not invaded our property as of yet. I would say by 2017 it will be a different story, but as of now it is still peaceful with only the crickets and farm animals in the distance.

Many of our guests never leave this hidden paradise. There is so much to explore right in your back yard. Avocados, bananas, grapefruit, pineapple, lemons, limes, tangerines, guavas, jackfruit and many other exotic fruit trees are there for the picking when in season. Meandering paths and manicured lawns filled with exotic tropical flora provides a park like setting. Relax on the covered lanai or the hammock with a book and just breathe!

This home is totally self-sufficient with solar power and gas appliances. The generator provides power to the batteries in times of cloudy weather or if the batteries run low. It is a very efficient system which provides electricity to kitchen appliances and any plug in's such as the stereo and television. The water heater is on demand which runs on propane as well as the refrigerator and stove. A private community water source supplies fresh spring water drinkable from the tap. We do not have to rely on a catchment system to provide water. There is also an emergency backup water tank that should last three days. Island weather can be very unpredictable and in the event of a storm you couldn’t be in a better location. You will never be without POWER or WATER!

There is generally a three-night minimum but in the event one or two nights are available between bookings we are happy to book it for you. We offer a discounted rate for last minute inquiries and longer stays. Weekly guests receive one bag of KAU coffee grown in Wood Valley. Ask about Last- minute, Active Military and Kamaaina discount rates.

We would be happy to help in planning your visit to the Big Island before and while you are staying at the cottage. No one else lives on the property, but if you need anything our property manager is available. We do require our guests to call us when they check in or the next day with late check ins, so we can inform them of the amenities and educate them about solar usage.

Agriculture Mac. Nut, coffee, tea and cattle ranch land. Wood Valley is a destination in itself. The lush green pastures and remote location makes it superb for those who want to experience Mother Nature at her best. Peaceful and quiet mountain atmosphere with few insects and coqui frogs. Comfortable climate at 2500 elevation cool nights and warm days. Close to Volcanoes National Park, Punalu'u Turtle Black Sand beach, South Point and Green Sands Beach. Easy day trips 90 minutes drive to southern Kona, Northeast Hilo and the Eastern tip Kapoho. Great location if you want to explore the southern area of the Big Island. Least populated area of the island bringing you back to 'old Hawaii'.

Hilo (ITO) airport is the closest with an hours drive. Kona (koa) is 2 1/2 hours drive so you will want to arrive before dark. You will need to have a car to visit this area of the island. Local transportation is limited. Hawaii discount cars will provide you with car rental rates. Budget, Alamo, Hertz and Avis are available on the Big Island.

Wi Fi and free long distance is provided at no charge to our guests. There is limited cell service and no television reception. Smart television and movies provided. Stereo with cd collection. Tour books. Beach towel, coolers, gas grill, beach chairs, bicycles, snorkel gear and many extras.
