Mystical Wood Valley estates hideaway for couples seeking intimacy, adventure & pure relaxation on your own 8 acre paradise with meandering paths through exotic flowers and fruit trees. Near Volcanoes Nat'l Pk. We can reserve 1 or 2 night stays one month in advance.

Le logement

Hale Aloha Aina (House of the Loving Land) is the perfect hideaway for couples seeking a remote destination that inspires intimacy and adventure. The cottage is located on the south side of Mauna Loa in a magical crescent shaped Wood Valley 1500 elevation above the town of Pahala. It is 2500 giving you cooler temperatures for a good nights sleep and lush green vegetation to quench your soul.

~ This romantic Hawaiian cottage is nestled on eight acres of lush tropical with no other homes in sight! flora, fruit trees and three acres of meandering paths with manicured lawns. It is truly the ultimate escape to let your imagination run wild!

~ The cottage is beautifully furnished with a fully equipped kitchen, spacious bathroom with tub/shower, outside shower, washer/dryer, Free Wi-Fi, free long distance US calling, bicycles, snorkel gear and many extras for your vacationing needs.

~This home is totally self-sufficient with solar power and gas appliances for sustainable green living. Private community water source provides the purest water on tap.

~ Wood Valley is a hidden treasure on the southeast side of the Big Island, which is the least populated area in the district of Kau, internationally famous for their award winning coffee.

~Preserved for generations to come, much of the Kau coastline remains untouched and known as one of Hawaii's last frontiers. Volcanoes National Park, exotic black and green sand beaches, historic sugar town, macadamia nut farms and coffee plantations are 20 minutes drive from the cottage. It is he perfect destination to explore the east and south west side of the island.

~ Comfortable mountain climate at 2500 elevation lends to low humidity with cooler nights so there is no air conditioning. A gas fireplace will keep you cozy in the winter months. The coqui frogs have not invaded our property as of yet. I would say by 2017 it will be a different story, but as of now it is still peaceful with only the crickets and farm animals in the distance.

Many of our guests never leave this hidden paradise. There is so much to explore right in your back yard. Avocados, bananas, grapefruit, pineapple, lemons, limes, tangerines, guavas, jackfruit and many other exotic fruit trees are there for the picking when in season. Meandering paths and manicured lawns filled with exotic tropical flora provides a park like setting. Relax on the covered lanai or the hammock with a book and just breathe!

This home is totally self-sufficient with solar power and gas appliances. The generator provides power to the batteries in times of cloudy weather or if the batteries run low. It is a very efficient system which provides electricity to kitchen appliances and any plug in's such as the stereo and television. The water heater is on demand which runs on propane as well as the refrigerator and stove. A private community water source supplies fresh spring water drinkable from the tap. We do not have to rely on a catchment system to provide water. There is also an emergency backup water tank that should last three days. Island weather can be very unpredictable and in the event of a storm you couldn’t be in a better location. You will never be without POWER or WATER!

There is generally a three-night minimum but in the event one or two nights are available between bookings we are happy to book it for you. We offer a discounted rate for last minute inquiries and longer stays. Weekly guests receive one bag of KAU coffee grown in Wood Valley. Ask about Last- minute, Active Military and Kamaaina discount rates.

If we could give this place ten stars, we would. I cannot emphasize enough how beautiful the location is, and the house was well stocked with everything we needed (including a washer and dryer). From this location, we enjoyed spending 2 days at Volcanoes National Park, snorkeling at the Kapoho tide pools, and hanging out with turtles at Punalu'u beach. I think we will be dreaming about this Hale for a long time!

The cottage is everything that you expect. Beautiful, secluded, quiet and clean. Our stay was a perfect end to a two week honeymoon on the island. Missy was very communicative through the booking and checking in process, and we had a warm welcome from Tom and Mona upon our arrival. The location provided easy access to Volcanos National Park and to the beach. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Missy's place on a quiet acreage outside Pahala is an oasis of calm and privacy, and we had an amazing, romantic vacation. The grounds were magnificent and isolated and the house itself was generously equipped with everything we needed and more. The solar power and propane heat/cooking worked flawlessly. Easy access to Volcanoes park!

My husband and I enjoyed an idyllic three nights at this lovely home. It was well cared for, well appurtenanced, and both the house and yard were beautiful. We appreciated the serenity of the location, and Missy was a responsive and friendly host. Highly recommended for travelers looking for a slice of paradise off the beaten path.

We had a truly magical experience. We were in search for a secluded beautiful comfortable getaway and that's what we got. Everything was perfect for our needs. We had the nicest time and hated to leave. We highly recommend this property for when you want to step out of reality and spend some time away from it all. And the hibiscus flowers were to die for. Thank you.

Missy's home was an incredibly beautiful and tranquil place to stay on the Big Island. The house is within quick driving distance of several charming towns as well as Volcano National Park, but maintained a secluded ambiance. The house was well cared for, and the yard was so much fun to explore. Highly recommend for anyone looking to disengage.
