This was hands down the most beautiful view I have ever had in any accommodation anywhere in the world! But you have to be adventurous to get to the top of the tower multiple times a day. Just plan your trips up and down with purpose. The beds by definition (each floor is one room or a landing) are small and you should be comfortable with spiral stair cases and small spaces if you book. But the expansive view up top is so worth it. There are many great restaurants in the town of San Gimingiano and we did some wine tours in the surrounding countryside. Get ready to be very happy in this place!

Spectacular location, a truly memorable experience at a fair price. You need to be fairly fit if you're going to spend time at the top of the tower! Bathrooms and kitchen areas worked well. Our son slept well in one of the bunk beds. My wife and I didn't find the pillows or mattress in our bed very comfortable -- a minor change.

Giulia is a very nice girl, she helped us carrying our heavy luggages and sending us to our parking place. She gave us too much help. The tower is so special and beautiful,I can't describe it in words. We spent a very good holidays. I think everyone will like it,especially the family with kids, because living in the tower like a game. Giulia,Thank you so much,I think I will come back in the future.

The climb to the top is a little treacherous, but it's absolutely worth it. Giulia is a great host, really easy to communicate with, and even helped with driving us into the city from the parking lot outside the ancient city walls. By far the most unique AirBnB you will stay in, and an amazing 360 deg. view of Tuscany all to yourselves. My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon, and had a wonderful time. We had meals, coffee and wine on the roof terrace and enjoyed the scenery, the location is perfect right in the main town square. One recommendation to anyone staying here is to strategically pack, as there is not much room to spread out. Also, before you go from one room to the next, make sure you have everything you need, because you don't want to have to walk up and down the narrow stairs when you forget something!

We had an amazing stay in the tower and loved every minute of it. It is totally mind blowing as you are surrounded by beautiful views from all round and Giulia left some treats such as fresh cherries and chilled wine to make you feel even more special. Our host Giulia is very friendly as well as being truly kind and lovely. She explained everything to us very clearly and throughly and also provided a very helpful hand book with everything you can think of covered. Small bags for luggage is best , we split our big case into 3 smaller bags to take in the tower as it has a lot of steps. The views from the top are breath taking - you are up and away from the rest of the world and can appreciate the beautiful surroundings on your own without anyone else. We ate up on the top every night as it was so lovely, buying provisions from the Co-op which is a short stroll away, as advised by Giulia. We left our car in P1 , which is the cheapest a 6euro for 24 hrs and a 5-10 min stroll to the tower. We felt like royalty, waving to other tourists in the Grosse tower or in the square and felt very privileged to be able to stay in such a unique historical building. Our kids said it was totally awesome .... it is !

So this one is a tough property to review because it's such an iconic experience. To actually stay in a Medieval Tower!! The thought alone is a cool one. But the flip side to this is that you're actually living in a tower and we quickly discovered that there are so many impracticalities to actually doing this. We were there for 4 nights and were happy to check out once our days were up. The thing is, everything is about climbing stairs. I know that all other reviews have mentioned this but I glossed over this when I was doing my research, thinking "it's cool, I can do stairs". The truth is that it's tiring as every living quarter is on a seperate floor. Unlike having an apartment that is on a hill, the struggle is to get to the front door of the apartment on the hill, but once inside the apartment, all living quarters are laid out on the same level (or possibly up one flight of stairs). Living in a Tower means that if your luggage is at the bottom entrance level, and it's 11pm at night and you're in the bedroom (level 8) and you realise that you've forgotten your PJ top in your suitcase, you now start having an internal discussion about how much you really need that PJ top and is it really worth the trek down and then back up again. Also I need to point out that the 'Double Bed' in the master bedroom is actually a slightly larger single bed. Two adults barely fit on this (even 2 pillows can't lie side by side. They actually overlap). In the end my wife and I had to sleep in seperate rooms as the first night on the one mattress was very uncomfortable. It was a cool experience purely from the bragging rights that "we lived in a Medieval Tower" but next time we're in San Gimignano, a hotel room will be a lot more practical.

Thanks for your kind but unexpected review Marcelo. We just want to clarify that the description of the tower is very very accurate and that before make a reservation you need to read it, paying attention.. About your review we just want to repeat that: - In the listening we speak not only about the number of floor but also about the number of steps and we describe each floor o the tower (one by one), also we had wrote about the sq meter of each floor. - Bathrooms are two and one is just 2 short floors above the double bedroom floor, one is two floors downstair (also this is written) - About the BED I attached here a piece of our description of the listening: " - 7th Floor (6sqm): Room with French Bed (120X190) designed to be folder across the wall..." We just want to say thank you very much for your stay. However if you have needs that require a place with so different features from that of a tower has to offer we highly recommend you for the next time to book an hotel room as you mentioned in your review. We work hard to be able to rent this amazing unique place and honestly your review is a bad surprise because we perfectly understand that a place can be not suitable for anybody but for this reason we spent a lot of time writing a so detailed description which explain 100% the reality of the tower, the services and the possible issues that a guest can find in a similar accommodation. Luckily we have a lot of reviews and till this moment all the other guests have perfectly understand the soul of the experience of living in a medieval tower. We wish you all the best. Thanks again. This was truly a unique stay! The tower is completely appointed with modern amenities, but you still get the feel of a medieval experience. The entire apartment has been very carefully and thoughtfully updated, with no stone unturned, but bear in mind that you still have to navigate 12 stories and tiny spiral stairs. Definitely not for anyone who does not want to climb more stairs during their European tour, and unfortunately taller or larger people will have trouble here too! Other than that, Giulia was a lovely hostess, extremely helpful, and very welcoming. You can't ask for anything else here, just enjoy the experience and be prepared to leave your luggage on the ground floor throughout the stay!

Hi!! My name is Giulia and I live few Km away from San Gimignano, a small authentic medieval village which still Today conserves its historical architecture with a lot of high stone towers! San Gimignano is setting between Siena and Florence in a wonderful countryside very close to Chianti Area and only one hour driving from the nicest Tuscan Beaches! This small town also offers a lot of Tuscan Osteria, characteristic Restaurants and excellent wineries. In the countryside around San Gimignano there are a lot of important Wine farms and Saffron Cultivations. I like to travel and also I love to meet people coming from all over the world! Together with my family we rent holiday accommodation both inside the city centre of San Gimignano and in the nearby countryside. We hope to see you soon during your trip in Tuscany. :)
