We had a wonderful time in Kilkee! Despite arriving just as Ireland rugby lost to Argentina, John greeted us warmly and in great spirits. The house was absolutely beautiful and just what we were looking for for our quiet stay in County Clare. The house was within view of the beach and a short walk from downtown. We thoroughly enjoyed the Kilkee cliff walks and spending time roaming the countryside! The people of Kilkee were incredibly inviting and my friends and I would love to return someday.
John, graciously welcomed us, explaining how to put euros in the box to turn on the heat, operate the showers (always a challenge for Americans) and then patiently explaining how European front doors lock later that evening. The house is roomy and comfortable for several people. It is well located near the center of the village for shopping for the supplies one needs (tea, coffee, sugar, tp, soap and food to cook). He brought us towels which apparently Irish families bring with them. Killkee is well situated on a beautiful peninsula with cliffs that rival the Cliffs of Moher, great for bicycling. Williams hardware rents great bikes for 15 euros per day. The Spa in town has seaweed baths and wraps not to be missed. This is a wonderful place to spend time on and around the beach and bay.
