We had a fantastic stay, many thanks. The house exceeded our expectations and the rural area was so relaxing and peaceful. The property is very well equipped, with all facilities to an excellent standard. We really enjoyed visiting the local towns and the restaurant recommendations left by Anne.

Thank you for a comfortable holiday at Le Roc. Our original booking was cancelled by our hostess Anne but she amicably agreed a reduction to compensate us for non-refundable travel costs and this allowed us to rebook the property for the following week. Anne's thorough instructions enabled us to find and gain entry to Le Roc without problems. The house was everything we had expected from the description and photographs - a 17th C farmhouse, charmingly restored to a high standard, very comfortable and well-equipped. We particularly appreciated the laundry and the dish-washer. The only extra kitchen item we would have used if it had been available was a teapot - (but we are British so are a bit pernickity about our tea!) The 3 double bedrooms were light and spacious with plenty of clothes hanging space available, and the two bathrooms were both equipped with good showers. A comfortable living room and separate dining room completed the single story living accommodation. Outside, the garden was a delight. Peaches, apples, pears, walnuts, hazelnuts and figs - all ripe and in abundance. A great patio with table, chairs and sun loungers provided a pleasant area to eat and socialise had the weather been kinder. We had booked Le Roc partly because of the lovely pool but when we arrived the weather had clearly been poor and we found the pool contained debris, a live frog and several lizard corpses which was off-putting, but in fact the weather was in any case too poor to swim. The hostess had left notes explaining that the pool was serviced weekly so I expect we could have contacted the pool contractor if we had wanted to use it. Le Roc was 15-20 mins brisk walking distance from the Villeneuve-de-Duras (where we found a boulangerie and a restaurant) - ideal for those who want a quiet holiday. There were a variety of good restaurants in nearby towns and villages further afield (Duras, Ste Foy, Bergarac), but the location is limiting for anyone who doesn't want to drive after sampling the local wines. Our hostess's recommendations about local restaurants were spot on - we enjoyed them greatly. All in all we enjoyed our visit - we are two retired couples who were content with a a quiet and relaxing holiday and despite the poor weather, we found it at Le Roc.

What a fabulous holiday - thank you! The house is perfect. Great location, wonderful garden and pool and a really comfortable house. We were blessed with wall to wall sunshine but I suspect the house would be fabulous come rain or shine. It was equipped with everything we needed for our holiday including English TV (which felt a tad naughty on holiday!!), very much a home from home for us but set in the rolling French countryside. We are already planning our return trip.

We are a mature New Zealand couple who love France and its culture. We own a lovely rural property in the Lot et Garonne region, about 45 minutes drive from Bordeaux. We spend a few months each year there ourselves but would like to rent it out for others to enjoy outside of these times.
