We enjoyed Fabio and Claudio's apartment. It looks like they have 5 apartments and each seems to have a different layout. Our apartment was spacious with a living room/kitchen area, bedroom, and bathroom. It was clean and well maintained. The air conditioning seemed to work well, but we visited when it was not very hot.
The kitchen was well stocked with a two-burner gas stovetop, refrigerator with freezer, microwave, pots, pans, bowls, strainers, utensils, plates, cups, 1x 5-gallon water bottle, and some condiments (salt, pepper, olive oil), plus dish soap, rag and towel. The bathroom included plush towels. There was a small safe to lock up money/valuables. The bed is firm as described. We liked that the apartment was not in the centro area as it was not busy, though we had to take a taxi to get to the north beaches about 2 miles away. We did haggle with the taxis to get a 30 peso fare since they would charge 40-50 pesos for the centro area. As indicated in another write up, the shower drain is now covered, and there are doors on the shower so it keeps water off the floor. The water pressure isn't the best, but it's Mexico and it was hot. Throughout the night you could hear local and stray dogs barking and there were rooster though the bathroom blocked their noise.
We loved the Caribbean Brisas restaurant across the street and ended each day there with a bucket of beers and guacamole. We also enjoyed finding the local bakery a couple of blocks away and we could walk to the large supermarket, Chedraui. The Guadalupe Chapel (Capilla de Guadalupe) was beautiful as it overlooks the ocean.
Fabio was away but was always very fast at answering questions over email and provided great recommendations for places to go to like Capitan Dulche's museum (they have a great secluded beach on the south side that's quiet!). Claudio was on site and provided help as needed, but he was hard to track down with his work, but Fabio was still available online.
Some of the guests stayed at La Rinconada for 1-3 months, so you can see how many people enjoy staying there. If you want to be in the middle of the action, this place isn't it, but if you want to be away from the loud city and tourists, than this is the place. When arriving, the La Rinconada sign is currently missing so we had to find the blue front by driving down the street with the taxi. Taxi's know the chapel and Mango Cafe as Fabio will provide instructions. Fabio also did a great job providing instructions for arrival from the airport to the water taxi to the hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
