Walk through the backyard gate on our quiet street to find a backyard garden beside a cozy Moroccan-inspired studio. Listen to the garden birds from the bedroom window. There's a small bathroom with a shower, and some basic kitchen amenities--a coffee maker, toaster and fridge. Please note: there is no kitchen.
The space is small but very comfortable as it is newly renovated. We wanted it to feel like a vacation getaway right in our backyard. The decorations are from our trips to Morocco, where my husband is from. Note: there are no cooking facilities. There is just a fridge, toaster and grill in the yard.

We love to meet our guests so you are welcome to knock anytime you need something as we live in the front house. But we work full time and are in and out quite a bit. You can always reach us by cell or email though!
We live in the front house and this is a detached studio in the backyard.
We also have a renter in the back part of our main house, who comes and goes through the backyard as well. He is pretty quiet. The garden studio is separate from the main house.
We are available if you need anything from spare towels to a snack but we are mostly home at night and weekends.
We have two kids who are ages 7 and 9. They play on the sidewalk a lot with the neighbors and can be noisy when they are home. The backyard is generally quiet though during the day, although our kids and their friends may be in and out of there sometimes on the weekends so you will hear some kid noise!
If you have kids and would like to stay there, we can bring in an air mattress that would fit beside the bed. It would be very, very tight with 4 people FYI and not so comfortable. I would only recommend it for shorter stays. We may be able to get a pack 'n play if needed as well.
For people staying longer terms (over three weeks):
- There will be a change of sheets as well as a supply of towels. It will be your responsibility to wash sheets and towels. If you need extras though, please let us know.
- You are responsible for your own cleaning but we can recommend cleaners if you would like one.
- You are responsible for your own supply of toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, conditioner, etc once the supply we have in there runs out.
No smoking or candles are permitted. If you smoke outside the house, we ask you to please clean up your cigarette buts and don't leave them in our yard!
While we hope you enjoy our studio and yard, we do not permit you to invite your friends over to hang out in our yard, and definitely not to smoke and drink with you in our yard.
Please try to be as quiet as you can when coming and going at night or early in the morning as our neighborhood is quiet and our neighbors don't appreciate the noise.
Please treat it as you would our own house. This is where our family and friends stays when they come to visit so we try to keep it cozy and comfortable.

I'm happiest wandering streets of countries I've never been to and stretching my brain around new languages. When I can't be doing that, you can find me traveling through books with my kids, teaching them Spanish and Arabic, cooking things like Brazilian pao de quiejo and figuring out how to make our favorite Moroccan lamb tagine taste awesome vegetarian. I work in sustainable finance/impact investing and when I can squeeze some more hours out of the night, I work on my website for parents raising little global citizens:
