Old Town is a small settlement situated above the town of Hebden Bridge. Having spent a number of years living in Hebden it is great to be up and out of the town with the extra light , fantastic views and network of footpaths to explore.

Old Town is a community in its own right with a Post Office and shop, friendly pub, Community Centre and bowling green.

There is a riding stables which offers tuition and riding trips and even a cafe at the local cricket club.

The Calderdale Way runs close by and there are some great moorland and valley walks to explore. A very scenic path can be followed
to Hardcatle Craggs which is only a few miles away . Hardier walkers may wish to walk on to Howarth which can be reached by a number of different paths varying between 12 - 14 miles.
I am a keen walker and cyclist and am happy to give advice and suggestions for routes. Maps can also be provided.

Hebden Bridge is well known and popular town famous for its independent shops, art studios , cafes , mills and industrial heritage sites.

There is an excellent Independent cinema , great music venue - see the Trades Club - and even a local Theatre.

There is a very pleasant walk down into Hebden which takes approx 20 mins going down and slightly longer coming back!

A very reliable bus service runs on the hour and half hour and will take you into the town and train station. Journey time to town is approx 10 mins during the day and 20 mins in the evening.

Rail services from Hebden run direct to Leeds, Manchester, York and Blackpool. There are links to London at Manchester and Leeds and also very good direct link from Halifax on Grand Central trains.

We had a wonderful stay, Julie gave good communication before arrival and was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The house is in a generally quiet neighbourhood, with great views and access to lots of interesting walking routes. We would happily stay again.

I was staying there with work and had a lot to do. Julie's home is peaceful and quiet, enabling me to get everything finished. Julie knew I was busy and left me to it but I always felt like she would be there if I needed anything. I have no problem in recommending Julie's home to anyone looking for a peaceful, scenic place to stay.

My second visit here, Ideal base for walking or mountain biking around Hebden Bridge. The sun was shining this time, probably the hottest day of the decade. Another visit soon to explore another part of the surrounding moors and hills.

I moved to Hebden Bridge from London 11 years ago, keen to live somewhere where I could indulge my love of walking and the outdoor life.

I have worked as a carpenter and vocational trainer for many years and hope to run courses in Green Woodworking from my own workshop here in Old Town.

I am a keen walker, cyclist, tennis and table tennis player!
