The cabin is set up as
The kitchen has many food items. Either provided or donated by previous guests. Best I can I try to keep the flow update and useful
This is a cabin that is has many useful items for folks. Should they find tjem useful.Guest are encouraged to also leave useful and edible staples and condiments.
We provide may items from coffee to olive oil, cooking supplies, all always in flux. I try to keep a clean rotating stock of useful items.

There is always fresh eggs from the girls.
There is bedding, towels, soaps, shampoos.

So many wonderful things to do and see here. The national park is 7 miles away. During the summer The island is a bustle of visitors..Island explorer busses are accessible from the Oceanarium. There is Kayaking biking hiking, boat trips, (URL HIDDEN) the winter the park is open to cross country skiers and snowshoeing, and I belive snowmobiles(need to look that up)
In the winter there is oil heat and the caretaker who lives on site keeps the wood stove in the basement cozy, and the paths shoveled (flat driveway gets plowed) and she is available to assist guests with any needs that may arise.

We are just down the street from the Oceanarium( open seasonally). And up the street is several lobster pounds and the most glorious sunsets!! Across the street lives the best local clam and mussel harvester! One can still get live lobsters and other seafood from the Trenton bridge pound on the winter months.

The island explorer busses can be caught 1/2mile up or at Oceanarium by special request. The busses hold your bikes on too. Ride bike up to bus stop.

I have about 30 pets a summer come with guests. Mostly dogs. Almost every one is fine, and understand that the chickens are usually loose in the yard.

The cabin is surrounded by 7 acres of a boreal forest with the farm up at the road. The guests are invited to wander about and meet the chickens. Bethany lives up in the front house.
The whole upstairs of the cabin is for guests to enjoy. This cabin has every amenity of the business ready rental: soaps towels linens, open door checkin with a key and a personal welcome note. The only difference is that we do have pets on the premises and over 80% of my guests bring pets.
There is a washer and dryer in the basement for guests to use. The rest of the basement is storage for tools and supplies. There is plenty of parking in front of a two bay garage.
Guests are asked to park anywhere in the gravel driveway and not on the lawn.
The kitchen has an assortment of most condiments and paper towels and seran wrap..and the bathroom has towels, soaps, shampoos toilet paper, bandaids, feminine needs.
The Beds are made up with sheets and blankets, pillows. Flannel blankets in the winter if requested!!
In the winter Bethany is in charge of the wood stove in the basement and keeps the house at a cozy temp, perfect for drying out after being out in the cold! Because of insurance coverage, guests are not allowed to manage the wood stove. But there is also oil heat should any need arise.
Bethany does the shoveling and there is a plow guy that keeps the flat driveway clear and easy to navigate.

There is a caretaker who lives on site. Who is available to assist guests with check in and check out and other needs that may arise. The cabin it self is set behind the farm adding a secluded feeling with just the woods.. one can not see the neighbors, just the farm and gardens and vernal pond. Where one can often see ducks and a great blue heron in the mornings.

We had a wonderful time . Bethany went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay. Our 6 yo stated more than once that she thought we were at home . There was plenty of items to keep her entertained. She was cozy in her bed and she enjoyed visiting the chickens while learning something new from Bethany. Our son also enjoyed his time visiting the chickens, going by the campfire and building a fun fort in the woods . The sheets and towels were super soft and smelled great . The house was very clean and comfortable. Bethany shared fresh eggs from her girls and delicious mushrooms they grew there . If there was something we didn't have, Bethany had it in a cabinet for us plus some . We wish we could have stayed longer and plan to visit again in the future. Thank you Bethany and family!! Notes: plenty of parking , teas, coffee, cups, utensils , grill (beautiful and brand new ) , new washer and dryer , outside of town but very convenient , fire pit, plenty of seating , pillows, sheets and blankets . TV with movies, video games and cable . Pretty much anything you need they had .

The cabin was nice, but it's not modern. The chickens were adorable and the fresh eggs were so nice! It's a homey cabin in the woods with an authentic Maine feel. It's not close to Bar Harbor but that's ok, unless you don't want to drive the 20 mins back and forth. Very nice of Bethany to provide the extra accommodation for our party of 5. The cabin had everything you need: towels, kitchen stuff. I appreciated the composting ability.

Bethany's cabin is the most ideal place to stay while visiting Mount Desert Island! The distance from there to ANYWHERE on the island is an easy drive and it is tucked away in a quiet woodsy space. Very comforting and peaceful, full of all sorts of kitchen, bath, bedding that you might need. And Bethany is extremely accommodating and caring and thoughtful!! She was a real pleasure to interact with and I hope so stay with her again someday :)

Easy access to the park. Great location if you want to relax outdoors, have meals where you are staying and sit around a great pit fire at night. Definitely recommend staying here. Bethany was a pleasure to work with.

Bethany's cabin and hospitality were top notch. The cabin came with everything you will need for your stay including some food staples. The eggs provided by the on premise chickens were a wonderful bonus. Bethany stayed in touch with us a few days prior to our trip and throughout the day of our arrival. We got in close to dark. She turned on the lights in the house and opened all the doors for our arrival. The cabin itself was comfortable and secluded. After driving through downtown Bar Harbor we were happy that we picked the cabin and not a place closer. August is busy! My only warning is nothing to do with the house it's more the area. It was buggy and bug spray was a necessity. There was a dozen bottles at the house to choose from. If we ever make it back we would certain stay again.

The cottage was private, clean, and comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped. Fresh eggs from the chickens were a special treat. Bethany made us all welcome, including our Airedale terrier.

I moved here in January 2013. I had worked as a gardener and property caretaker in the Berkshires since 2001. I convinced my dear friend to invest in this property so that I could have a safe haven to steward, to heal, to be inspired. In Great Barrington MA in 2006 I met a 79 year old woman in a cross walk on the hood of my 1980 volvo station wagon on my way to school to pick up my 7 yr old. I pleaded guilty, I was not on any drugs. I was convicted of a misdemeanor and I lost my license for 15 years. 10 years later I am working hard to over come my non jail sentencing. Not driving in rural America is hard. Much to poor to travel, I took refuge up here. I find such great joy hosting! I have been so blessed to meet folks from all over the world! I NEED world wide friends!! When we do get to meet person I enjoy asking where you all came from, ancestry. I am inquistive and inspired by people's histories. Working to be Resourceful, working to manifest a selfsufficent and productive life here on this beautiful island. Working for harmony and health of the planet!
