Private mother-in-law type creole cottage with its own little courtyard! 15 minute walk to the French Quarter and Frenchman St. Just a little over 5 minute walk to the brand new N. Rampart/St. Claude streetcar line! Please read the ENTIRE listing description before booking/inquiring!

You have your own separate entry into this cozy creole cottage located in a historical district, right on the edge of The Marigny and Treme. You'll have the whole place to yourself, one bedroom with a queen bed, one bathroom, kitchenette; refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster (please note that there is no oven/range), living room with a couch that folds out to a double bed and a small fenced-in courtyard.

While the cottage can accommodate 4 people, it is a smaller space and if there's more than 3 of you, I hope you all get along really well! Also, there is no door between the bedroom and living room. This is actually pretty common in New Orleans architecture.

There are two bicycles with locks available for your use. They are cruiser style, one for women and one for men. Because of a past theft of previous bicycles when guests had them out and about, you will need to sign a release/waiver in order to use them.

The whole place is yours! There is a keyless door, so you don't have to worry about losing a key during your adventures around New Orleans! The door is coded and I change the code after every guest leaves.

Free, on-street parking is plentiful.

The cottage is not handicapped accessible and may not be a good fit for those with mobility issues. There are a few steps at the entrance without a handrail and the transition between the bedroom and living room has a lip.

I live next door in the main house with my three dogs. I can be as involved as you need me to be or you can have all the privacy you want. I love this city and have tons of recommendations for places to go and things to do that you might miss.

This is a typical, urban New Orleans neighborhood, probably very different from what you are used to. Families have lived in the same house for generations and I can't tell you how many times I have had people stop me on the street to tell me that their grandparents lived in my house 60 years ago or a woman and her husband 30 years ago. I would estimate that about half of the residents on my street have been here forever and the other half are transplants that have fallen in love with life in New Orleans. Around here is where you will find the people who make New Orleans what it is; musicians, artists, construction workers, teachers and servers.

This is an up and coming area and yes, there are some blighted houses and empty lots (still recovering from Katrina!). But those spots are quickly being snatched up and changed for the better. There is a lot of work being done to many houses in the immediate area. Some lots are not as pretty as the one next to it or there is some construction debris from the rehab project being done. This street is brightly lit with friendly neighbors, a high school up the block and improvements all around. You might even catch a Second Line parade passing by on St Bernard Ave (usually Sunday afternoons)! Since we are a block off of St Bernard, which is a main street, some traffic noise can be heard if you are not used to "city sounds".

People here sit on their stoops and porches, they ride their bikes, walk, talk, sing and dance down the street. It is a REAL New Orleans neighborhood, if you keep an open mind, smile and are friendly, you'll have a great time!

The property is located right off of St Bernard Ave, with easy access to I10. The airport is about a 30 minute drive away, depending on traffic. Esplanade Ave is 3 blocks in one direction and its a lovely 15 min walk to the French Quarter (20 min to Bourbon St) or Frenchman St, where the best local music can be heard, on a tree lined street with historical homes. There are buses that run along both Esplanade and St Bernard. The brand spankin' new North Rampart/St. Claude streetcar line is just a little over 5 minutes walk away!

Street parking is available right in front. I would err on the side of caution at nighttime, especially if you've had a couple of drinks on Bourbon St and either drive (with a designated driver!) or take a cab/Uber.

All dog breeds and sizes are welcome! There is even a little courtyard with access from the cottage for potty breaks. I have 3 dogs on my property, its separate and they won't be bothering you. While all 3 are friendly, one is pretty big with an intimidating bark so if you want to meet them or have a playdate with your own pup in the big yard, let me know! Please let me know at the time of booking that you will be traveling with pets.

Règlement intérieur
Non fumeur
Pas de fête ni de soirée
Peut ne pas convenir aux bébés (moins de 2 ans)
L'heure d'entrée dans les lieux est 15:00 - 02:00 (jour suivant).

Since this is a residential area, I ask that you please be courteous to the neighbors when coming and going.

No more than 4 people are allowed to stay in the cottage.

If you use the fold out couch, please use the provided sheets and pillowcases located in the bedroom closet. On the day of checkout, please strip the beds (leave the mattress pads) and place all used sheets and towels in the laundry basket in the bedroom closet.

If you bring your dog, please clean up any dog waste in the courtyard and in front of the cottage. Please also let me know at the time of booking that you are traveling with pets, how many, what kind and age/breed. I welcome all pets, I'd just like to know in advance!

Please lower the umbrella in the courtyard when not in use. During our rainstorms, the wind has been known to blow it away!

Do NOT flush anything other than waste and toilet paper down the toilet- no feminine products or baby/facial wipes. The plumbing in the cottage is relatively new, but the city sewage system is not! So it is easy for the main drainage line to get clogged.
