The cabin sits in the woods on a ridge, with huge six by six windows in the living space and bedroom. There is a screened in porch and a gas grill outside by the porch doors. Camping at a five star level!

Very pretty, comfortable cabin. The screened porch and tiny lake are great. The gunshots from the range next door made me jump the first few times, but it wasn't terrible active on a Friday or Saturday. Most shots were quieter, but the first person was using something really loud. I was relieved to find that wasn't frequent. It's a beautiful compact space, and Brenda made sure to tell me about the festival happening in Marion. Stove top, toaster, grill -- no oven (not a problem, because I knew about it but I would want to know beforehand so I wouldn't bring anything I needed to bake.) This is a really pretty spot and well cared for. Thank you!

My husband and I spent a much needed few days away at Brenda and Melvin's cabin. We expected it to rain the whole time, and didn't do much more than layabout, read, talk and sleep. That screened in porch is an absolute haven. I had promised myself i'd sleep late everyday, but couldn't resist that delicious balmy misty sunrise from the rocker on the porch. having brought all of our food with us, and having read up on the kitchen set up (stove top only--NO OVEN) I had planned out our simple meals, and the little kitchen came through. Lots of bonus sauces and condiments in the fridge, spices and sugar on hand, all the basic pots and pans and utensils. An excellent grill, rounded it out. The cabin was sparkling clean, filled with fresh smelling sheets and towels and flooded with light, comfortable even though the power had only recently been turned back on from an outage. Melvin and Brenda were wonderful, welcoming and friendly. More than once, i almost invited them up for a glass of wine. Its a relatively short drive from our home and i'd love to come back and explore a bit more in the future!

My husband and I had a great stay at the cabin. It was just what we needed in a quick getaway. A very peaceful, relaxing place to be. We enjoyed the screened in porch while it was raining and the large windows to look out. Brenda and Melvin were very kind and helpful. Enjoyable visit!

My wife and I had a wonderful experience. Melvin and Brenda had thought of every single detail. We never had to ask them for anything and our hosts left us to our privacy. The location is great, though can be difficult to find but it is comfortably off of the beaten path. We enjoyed the cabin, the views, and the paddle boat. We only regret staying for only two nights and intend to return!

If you like being in the woods this is the place for you! Want a taste of (not so ) tiny living? Give Walhalla a try! Set in a hillside, surrounded by trees, this is a peaceful place to retreat, with fun small towns to explore, that aren't too far away. Lake James State part is nearby too. The cabin has EVERYTHING you need and wonderful extras as well! You feel like you are IN the trees but with all the comforts you expect on vacation at a resort. True, the HUGE windows don't open, but other windows do, so appreciating the fresh air is easy. If you are addicted to some new show on HBO, better have it streaming, because the TV is there only for DVD's. The wifi though, is excellent. If you are looking to relax and unwind, book this now!

I love the mountains, I can't get enough of the wonderfull beauty of the mountains. I love looking out any of my windows to see wildlife moving about freely without a care. If we are not on River Rock Crossings, you may find us in Western Montana, to be exact Glacier National Park!

We believe that we are the stewards of this land, the owner, God is the true owner.

This area is rural, laid back and mostly quiet. You can travel 30 to 40 miles in any direction to be in a "big" North Carolina city like Asheville or Hickory.
