Linda lives in a pleasant neighborhood with interest houses possessing interesting architecture. It is very inviting for a stroll early morning or late evenings. I would also feel completely comfortable going out for a walk after 9 or 10pm. My arrival at Linda's exceeded all of my expectations. Linda showed me a beautifully decorated guest space that looked as if it had been set up by a home decorator. The entire upstairs is space reserved for guests. The rooms are neat, clean, and welcoming. The bathroom has various soaps and lotions on display, softly textured rugs and even foot massage balls! I was thoroughly delighted with this cozy private retreat I landed myself. I didn't know that my impression of the place could grow any grander until Linda took me to the kitchenette and opened the refrigerator revealing bacon and eggs. I cried -literally (after she went back downstairs). I had arrived hungry, had issues with my phone's GPS so got lost trying to find the place and felt tired. I wasn't looking forward to driving around looking for food with a dubious GPS signal. That first night, I made myself a bacon & egg, croissant sandwich and sat down on the comfy to enjoy Season 1 of Downton Abbey (Linda has both DVDs and a library nook available for entertainment). I loathed to leave two days later, but I had booked two locations for my time in Texas, one that was in the city I was visiting, and Linda's place for the first two days because the other place was unavailable. Well, let me just say, I got to that new place and while it was nice, it wasn't Linda's. I emailed Linda that night and explained my predicament. Here's an excerpt of that email: "Your home was too pleasant; the space too clean and welcoming in its decor...I have lately arrived at this new location and while the accommodations are nice, they lack the homey hospitable feel of your place and I regret I left. Alas, for me. I miss the bright colors of the room upstairs, the cozy little kitchenette, the comfy couch, and oh, the Downton Abbey! So there you have it, I was so well treated that your home has become the standard of my expectation of Airbnb lodgings. I hold you entirely responsible. You excel as a host. You really must warn your guests that your rooms make such an impression upon the visitor that they may set the bar very high indeed for future accommodations." So how did I resolve my dilemma -- I moved back to Linda's the next day for the remainder of my stay!!! Linda's home is an absolute treasure. I would book a room there just to "get away" if I lived in Texas. I most emphatically recommend staying with Linda. Next time I'm in Texas, I plan to do so too.
