Description

Our house is a restored, rustic watermill situated in the heart of the Bresse region in Southern Burgundy. As we can't be there all the time, we like sharing this peaceful place with nice people. We met friends from all over the world. Maybe you?

The House:
Beautifully restored, rustic watermill, with all the modern comfort you need situated in a small village in the heart of the Bresse region in Southern Burgundy, peacefully set between the mountains, lakes and waterfalls of the stunning Jura region on the one side and one of the powerhouses of French winemaking, Burgundy's Côte d'Or, on the other side.
Tastefully decorated to a high standard our mill can comfortably accommodate groups of up to 8 in spacious bedrooms with a modern kitchen, underfloor heating, exposed stone work, wood burning fire, outdoor terrace with table for up to 10 people, barbecue facility, balcony overlooking a gently flowing river and many original features from its prior working day as a flour mill.
The mill itself and its location provides a tranquil base from which to explore the Burgundy wine regions and Jura Mountain regions as well as cities such as Geneva, Lyon, Dijon or Beaune - all in all offering a multitude of outdoor activities, restaurants vineyards, chateaux, markets and sites of historical interest.
The nearby villages of Montpont-en-Bresse (2 mins by car) or La Chapelle Thècle supply basic provisions such as bakery, butcher, pharmacy, bar and bank, whilst further a field is Louhans (10mins) with its 157 arcades, shops housed in 15th century buildings and famous Monday agricultural market, or the hypermarkets and bustling city atmosphere of Chalon-Sur-Saône, Mâcon or even Lyon (40 to 60mins).

Interaction with our visitors:
Our friends can always get in touch with us at any time.

The Neighbourhood:
Be nice to our mill and take good care of the nature surrounding it. We have really nice neighbours in a near-by house, cows in the fields, kingfishers hovering above the river, deer drinking water, fish, herons - literally within your reach. The occasional "ragondin" wobbles across the ground near the pond.

Eating out:
You will find recommendations in our Welcome Book.

Transportation/Acessibility:
You are in the countryside, therefore you need a car to get around.

I like traveling, lived in various countries and got my home base now in Switzerland, literally a stone throw away from Burgundy. I visited Burgundy for the first time in 1987. The crush turned into a long-lasting relationship.
