They speak Italian, English, German and French and will be available also by telephone for any need. They will welcome the guests and show all appliances and will be there when guests leave. San Bartolomeo is truly a bit of paradise. Its location near the charming, and thankfully relatively quiet town of Castellina in Chianti, is a perfect launching point for day trips to Tuscan villages. My wife and I, together with another couple, rented the main house for the last week of September. A former monastery dating back to the 15th century, it is now a beautifully decorated 3 bedroom house with dining/living room, study, and spacious kitchen. The quiet countryside with vast views across the valley, even to the town of San Gimignano on a clear day, as well as starry nights with low light pollution, provides a beautiful backdrop for the multiple well - positioned, outdoor seating arrangements which surround the villa. Selecting the best spot to watch the glorious, orange marmalade-streaked sky at sunset was our favorite activity. The infinity pool is simply breathtaking - it frames the countryside perfectly and the light trickle of the fountain at one end adds further to a captivating setting. We swam (or at least took a plunge) every day, although early morning swims in late September were a bit chilly. And we grilled one evening at the outdoor barbecue pit (briquets provided) and had an indoor fire one night, mostly for effect rather than warmth. (By the way, the local butcher in Castellina gave us outstanding cuts of chicken and filet). Speaking of supplies, all of the basic kitchen necessities were at hand, including coffee, much appreciated on our first morning. And unlike many rentals, we loved the delicate glassware for wine and cocktails. What to know about San Bartolomeo: Pierangela and her husband often spend summer weekends on the property at the opposite end of the main villa. We, sadly, got to spend time with Pierangela only upon our arrival, but we stayed in contact by phone and text during our week and she was incredibly helpful and responsive (as she had been during the rental process). A nearby cottage is also for rent - another couple was there during much of our stay - but other than occasional trips down the main driveway, we weren't aware of them. I would imagine on another occasion you may meet fellow lodgers at the pool. San Bartolomeo itself is on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps - useful particularly on your first visit when an almost immediate pitch downhill on an unmarked dirt driveway may make you question whether you are on the right road! At the villa you'll find a green notebook with lots of info about the region - recommend reading it early on - also helps find your way around the property. Hadn't expected the second bathroom had no shower/bath, but if I'd read the descriptions better I could have figured that out. No worries for us, but just a heads up. And a nice outdoor shower by the pool, although unheated. There's a washing machine, but no dryer. We found hanging laundry on outdoor lines worked well, so this is also by way...

Dear Steve I have just read your review: how nice of you! It is exactly what we hoped that our guests may wish to feel after their stay in San Bartolomeo! It is a pleasure and a honour to have shared our home with you and your friends. Please send me the poem that Susie wrote about it! We shall be pleased to see you again in the future and meanwhile do not forget to have a look at our (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) page (San Bartolomeo in Chianti) where I post pictures and emotions. Best wishes from Pierangela Duccio Beatrice PS We also had a swim in the swimmingpool a few days after you left! Cooool!

A more peaceful and serene stay we couldn't have hoped for. We stayed 10 days at Pierangela's beautifully restored farmhouse in the middle of Chianti, only minutes away from the stunning town of Castellina in Chianti. The property sits amidst vines and olive trees with almonds, figs and herbs available to us to use. It has 3 large bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with full size kitchen and living/lounge area with open fire. It is spacious and very well equipped. The outdoor areas provide stunning vistas of the rolling hills of Chianti. We very much enjoyed our stay here and hope to return. Thank you to Pieranglea and family, you made us most welcome and comfortable.

We really recommend to stay at Pierangela house. It has an excellent swimming pool with wide horizon view. The second nice place is a terrace with a similar wide view. The terrain has some shadow and sunny places, so everyone can find best place to rest. As house is located on a hill, small wind never makes it too hot. The swimming pool is shared with a second house located a bit (100m) further than this one. Old medieval house give you some special atmosphere that you have to use to. All in all is a perfect place to spend relaxing time! We really like Pierangela host and house and would like to come back! :-)

The property was beautiful and the location was central (30-45 minute drive) to many sights in Tuscany from wine tasting to Siena and Florence. Pierangela was very responsive and accommodating.
