Le logement

Diane Neary (my mum) lives in Church Cottage and has recently restored this beautiful barn in the glorious Suffolk countryside. If you want to book the barn you will be in contact with her to make your arrangements.

Accommodation suits 3 people (couple and a child); one double bed (mezzanine reached by ladder) and one single bedroom/study. Kitchen, open plan sitting and dining room, toilet and wet room. Under floor heating throughout (apart from kitchen). Can accommodate 2 adults and 1 child or perhaps 3 adults sharing.

As a longer let this space would suit; artist, writer, musician, scholar who needs quiet creative space to work in/ make stuff. Access to workshop/studio space.

Church Cottage the main house is also available for B&B or self-catering. Individual rooms available or whole house. See separate listing Church Cottage Saxtead.

Accès des voyageurs

Lovely garden with fire pit, patio space, and parking for use.

Autres remarques

Church Cottage is a beautiful 15th Century cottage in the heart of rural Suffolk. This too is available to let. Check out separate listing Church Cottage Saxtead.

Sat Nav does not tend to work in getting you to Church Cottage. So it's important to make time to sort out directions with Diane. Local landmarks are Saxtead Windmill, Saxtead School of Dance, All Saint's Church Saxtead (sign is facing road), and the A1120 from Saxtead to Dennington.

Diane was extremely helpful and patient as we lost our way and arrived very late. Barn is charming and the garden was a wonderful addition. Very pleasant stay all in all.

Quirky little barn in rural Suffolk, not quite as peaceful and quiet as I would have liked due to proximity to main road. Lovely firm bed, conducive to sleep, but accessed by a precipitous and nerve-wracking ladder - not ideal for anyone of a nervous disposition. My daughter, 15, was also spooked by proximity to graveyard and lack of keys for doors. But Diane gave us a nice welcome and we had a good time. (Maybe some typed Instructions as to how to find the nearest supermarket/pub etc would not go amiss - we had one hell of a time trying to find the Co-op and Mill House pub, with me getting quite hot and flustered in the heat.)

The location is lovely, in a fantastic quiet setting. We had our little girl with us and Diane organised a futon for her which she loved. We had fresh fruit, bread and eggs from the hens in the garden, which was a nice touch. Our little girl loved playing in the garden particularly with the hens. The place is rustic chic and there were some cool design ideas. However, I don't think it is suitable for families with young children or people with reduced mobility due to the stairs up to the Mezzanine.

Lovely slightly quirky rural stay! Very artistic features. Superb free range eggs. Steep ladder to the bedroom but the bed was comfy. Well equipped kitchen!

We enjoyed a weekend in Diane's lovingly and artistically restored barn. Fresh flowers, eggs from her hens, and some of her jam awaited us on arrival. Set in a very quiet location in Suffolk's beautiful countryside, it is convenient for the coast and all the many local attractions. It was a very peaceful stay, apart from a very dramatic thunderstorm one night. The kitchen is well equipped, and the bed comfy. Getting up and down the ladder to bed certainly adds adventure. It was a chilly weekend, and we found it a little difficult to work out/ program the underfloor heating. When we got it working it was a lovely cosy heat. Thank you Diane, it was just what we needed.

Diane (Saskia's mum) made us feel very welcome. The listing was just as pictured/ described and the surrounding countryside was beautiful and serene with plenty of small villages and local co-ops/ delis to buy food and supplies.

Diane Neary is my mum and she lives in Suffolk at Church Cottage. She is a teacher and artist and it's Diane that you will be speaking to about the Barn and Studio.

I 'm an art psychotherapist living in Brighton. Church Cottage is the house in Suffolk that we all grew up in.

In the review below from Astrid - she is referring to Diane rather than me!
