Le logement

The apartment has everything that you will need to feel at home for either a short or extended stay. The space has been architecturally designed to be warm in winter and cool in summer. It is light and airy while offering a leafy outlook and ample privacy. There are 2 beds (one queen and one single). A folding camp bed can be provided for an extra child if needed.

Off-street parking is provided for one car. Guests have private entry into the flat, and enjoy exclusive use of the rear patio.

We live in the house, upstairs from the flat, so are on site much of the time. We are happy to offer any assistance that you may need during your stay (and a cup of tea or a glass of wine) but equally happy to leave you in peace as you enjoy your stay.

Le quartier

Sandgate is a thriving seaside village of beautiful sub-tropical Brisbane. It has a vibrant community feel, lots of local events, great restaurants, bars and live music. We highly recommend a dinner at Il Forno Pizza restaurant and a drink or two at one of the local bars.

For families with children, there are several playgrounds within a few minutes walk. The nearby lagoons provide a great place for nature watching, and nothing beats finishing a weekend with fish and chips on the waterfront while watching the moon come up. Although the waterfront is tidal sand flats it is a great place for fishing, kitesurfing, stand-up paddle boarding, cycling, walking or jogging.

The house is located in a picturesque 'character street' that features many classic examples of early 1900's 'Queensland' architecture. One end of the street affords ocean views while the other looks over the Brisbane City and beyond.


Our apartment is a short 5 minute walk from the Sandgate train station, with trains running directly to the city and Southbank. The city is a 35 minute train ride. Buses can take you to the city (route 310) and also to Chermside (route 335). Our proximity to the gateway motorway (M1) allows easy access to the Brisbane Airport, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.

Wireless internet is provided, but we kindly ask that you don't stream movies or games.

We lead busy lives yet are at home most evenings and weekends. Our three children are generally courteous and friendly, yet like most children, from time to time they do make noise. If you are wanting absolute solitude this is probably not your ideal place. Our family is very sociable and love entertaining. We look forward to welcoming you to Sandgate.

We live in the house upstairs and have young children so please consider that (we try to keep their noise to comfortable levels). We want you to have a pleasant stay, but this is not the place for loud, late night parties - there are plenty of great bars in Sandgate for that; you might just see us there too ;)

While we like animals we don't allow pets without prior notice.

As we don't charge a cleaning fee, we request that all guests leave the accommodation in the same clean and tidy state as they found it.

Wayne and his family made our stay great and we had fun at Sandgate. Accommodation was great, clean and nice to stay with kids. Toys that Wayne provided for were nice and backyard was extra fun for all. Chickens and looking for eggs was a real treasure hunt for girls in the mornings.. thank you all for beautiful stay and great small surprises that made us feel at home. Beach, restaurants and parks that Wayne suggested were great.

An outstanding unique and authentic property. Extremely spacious and full of character and taste. Close to the beach, m1, and the city. Very pleasant host. I wish our stay never ended!

Property in good area with a short walk to Sandgate shops and train station. Very nice property with comfortable bed and lovely bathroom facilities. Plenty of linen,towels etc. Well equipped kitchen,dining and cosy lounge area. Wifi also provided. Good outdoor area. Did feel that an air conditioning unit or ceiling fan in the living area would be beneficial as it was very hot. Would not hesitate in recommending this property.

Amazing new Self Contained flat. Has Everything..Wayne and his family are very accommodating, nice and very helpful. Couldn't recommend this place more. Its great!

The accommodation was perfect and Wayne and his partner are a genuine nice couple. Wayne was flexible with check-in time and made sure everything was right, even taking the effort to bring freshly baked biscuits. The accommodation was exactly as described and located close to shops and the beach. I would definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay at Wayne's family apartement which is well equipped, clean and just perfect for families with children. The family welcomed us warmly and open. We stayed ten days in Sandgate which is a beautiful and quiet part of Brisbane with close shopping centres and nice walks around the lagoon or along the coast. We extremely recommend the place.

Our hosts were great. Flexible when we needed a late check in and so willing to help. Very genuine people. Description of the unit was very acurate, in fact it was better than described. Private and peaceful. Great spot, walking distance to town and the water. Very reasonably priced, and we would book again.
